Texas doesn't travel a lot. Those four to five games within the state of Texas each year, are a huge rest.

Texas Tech
Baylor
Texas A&M
Cotton Bowl (Okla vs. Texas)
Big 12 Championship Game

Outside conference: Rice, Tulsa, UTEP, etc.

Texas has played 10 of their 13 scheduled games within the state of Texas this year.

Including both four and five week stretches.

You want to be considered national champions? National Champions. Play somewhere tough outside of Texas state during the regular season.

And, finding a way to put 1 second on the clock, after time has expired

So I guess Florida goes across the country right?

THANK YOU!!!!

And good job picking on Texas this year...You do know they redeemed a home-and-home with UCF, right? How about the home-and-home they had with Ohio State a few years back? At least they honor two year agreements with teams with a home-and-home series...

Yet the Gators play a tough schedule....gtfoohwtbs

I didn't mention going across country. Just travel outside of your state if you want to be considered a "National Champion."

And I didn't mention Florida. Don't put my post inside of a box.

10 of 13 games within your state is ridiculous as a "powerhouse."

Again. Putting my post inside a box like I'm an angry Gator fan.

Did I mention Florida?

I didn't mention Florida but they do travel (airplanes and itinerary) to some out-of-state hostile environments. Matter of fact, there's no other team within their conference in the state of Florida.

And who is UCF post Dante? Don't confuse them with USF.

I'm not "picking" on Texas, just making an observation about a "powerhouse" and potential "National Champion."

Texas and Florida really do not have to play anyone out of state to be honest. Teams in both states are naturally talented anyway. My point is that it's funny when Texas don't play anyone everyone got shit to say, but if Florida put Charleston on their schedule I hear "Well Florida is in the SEC".

The point is, most powerhouses do not have to travel to stay ranked. It's a money game, we all know it.

Yes that is the case now since SOS is not a factor anymore...

But even though teams do not have to travel, I prefer them to do so to prove themselves against elite teams in other parts of the country instead of waiting until the end of the season to play them at a neutral site. Many teams have done that in the past into the present (Miami vs. Washington, FSU vs. USC, USC vs. OSU, OSU vs. Texas, Tennessee vs. ND, etc) and get credit for doing that. However, there are teams that do not travel out of the state year after year in their OOC schedule, and still have high rankings...

The whole system is fucked up. I loved the fact we *Texas* played OSU.

LSU, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee tends to travel the most out of that conference.

Florida's excuse is the Florida State game.

I have heard that many times...However, Georgia plays Georgia Tech every year and still can schedule games at Oklahoma State and Arizona State.

Every odd year (2007, 2009, etc) Florida's matchups with their rivals (Tennessee and Florida State) are at home.

They have a home-and-home series with Penn State (starting next year) and Michigan State...gotta respect that :yes::yes:

Yeah, the Penn State series has been popular with both Alabama and Happy Valley fans. Ironically, the series re-starts next year and Alabama beat Penn State for the National Championship in the 79 Sugar.

Talks of UT moving to the Big Ten Conference (just talks right now)

National Championship Runner-up Texas Moving To Big Ten?

Sports News - February 11th, 2010

On a day in which Texas officials claim they were unfairly targeted by the NCAA's new head-coach-in-waiting regulations, news has broken that they are intrigued by being targeted by the Big Ten(ish).

The midwestern conference is said to be holding preliminary talks with the school to discuss a possible annexation for the 2012 NCAA Football season.

"There have been preliminary exchanges between the Big Ten and Texas," a source told the Lawrence Journal-World on Wednesday. "People will deny that, but it's accurate."

UCLA 34

They have to come out to Cali next year: @ UCLA.

Texas quarterback is looking solid so far. Run D looks mighty suspect. Not the same team as '09. But the Longhorns put the Bruins back in business. We'll see how they do on the "road" in Nebraska.

Texas' defense paves the way. Gilbert more comfortable, maturing?

Had a feeling it would be closer than expected (2 Ls and counting) but the Longhorns win on the road.

Nebraska 13

The Longhorns face one more team outside of Texas state this regular season, @ Kansas State. Totaling two true road games.
