Recently, a video surfaced on the Internet showing a Tesla owner filming, with the help of his car, a Ferrari 488 driving alongside him on a road in China. While the purpose of the film was to showcase the beautiful car, things quickly changed once the Ferrari crashed quite hard causing damage of up to $140,000, according to YouTube channel Wham Baam Teslacam. While the accident is bad enough in and of itself, now the owner ostensibly has to endure a long process as the insurance company refuses to cover the huge sum.

Ferrari Vs Tesla Crash: Here's What Happened

In footage uploaded to YouTube channel Wham Baam Teslacam, it was looking like a pleasant night for the Tesla owner, especially while filming a nice Ferrari 488. As the Ferrari approached the vehicle, however, the Tesla driver noticed that two of the four available lanes were closing down due to roadwork ahead. The driver was in the second lane, with two cars ahead: one in the first and the second in the third lane. The driver made the decision to accelerate past the car in the third lane and then move to that lane. As we all know, Tesla is a quick accelerating car, so the video mentions that due to the “aggressiveness” of the car, the Ferrari might have taken that maneuver as a little challenge.

As a result, the Ferrari sprung right behind the Tesla making the exact move mentioned above. After this maneuver, they encountered a few traffic lights, on which they were waiting side by side. When the lights turned green, the Tesla accelerated, but the video mentioned that at all times, the driver was under the speed limit, denoting that their maneuvers were legal.

The 488 had the same path as the Tesla, but it cannot be said for certain that the driver had any intentions of racing the S 100D model. At the last red light, the Tesla driver put the pedal to the metal again but this time did not notice the Ferrari behind, thinking that the Italian car had taken a turn or stayed behind. After pulling to the supercharger, the driver looked at the cam footage of their car and discovered that the Ferrari driver lost control of the car, spun out, hit a light pole and entered the crosswalk.

The Aftermath: What Happened To The Ferrari?

After the accident, the Ferrari driver received another blow on top of the accident: the insurance company, according to YouTube channel Wham Baam Teslacam, refused to cover the $140,000 in damage. While the owner has supposedly been paying the company $7,600 per year in order to be covered, the insurance company is stated not to be honoring the claim.

As the video states, the insurance company asked the owner to send pictures of his car when he purchased the insurance coverage, however the photos he sent had the number plates blurred out.T he owner states that he sent new photos less than a month later, and he continued to pay his premium insurance on a regular basis. Still, the insurance company refuses to cover the claim as they are stating that the initial photos were not in compliance.

People Are Weighing In On The Ferrari's Accident

Some people presented their opinion in the YouTube comments section. One user wrote, "asking how is it possible for an insurance company to take someone's money yearly and then refuse to pay their claim, while others straight up advised the Ferrari owner to sue the insurance company".

Another point was raised, stating that the Ferrari owner was driving recklessly and the insurance company should not be held responsible for the damages caused. One YouTube commenter said, "The insurance company can legally deny the claim if the person was committing a traffic offense during the time of the accident.

The Ferrari was engaged in the following traffic offenses: Exhibition of speed or acceleration, Drag racing, Racing, Exhibition driving, and Speed exhibition. Most countries have these on the books the following are examples of what offenses are in the exhibition of speed laws."
