Does any know where I can purchase access to a remote desktop for a small fee?

My CPU at work blocks a lot of stuff so I've just been using my homeboys remote desktop from a private FTP he runs to just go to other sites at work (Like BGOL...hahaha) but with the recent changes in file hosting he decided he no longer has use for the server since he mainly used it to upload for him as well as many other things. He said he's gonna cut it off by Monday so Im just looking for a cheap alternative for browsing purposes only while im at work and dont wanna pay $100+ a month just to do that. Does anyone know of a web site that just grants access to a remote desktop for a cheap fee per month? Thanks.

logmein (free)

That how I surf porn etc from work so the network group/security cant see what im doing... Then have dropbox on both computers to transfer files (i think log me in free in transfers too)

Fasho. Good lookin. Ima look into both of those sites cause I can only look at yahoo for so long. They blocked everythang else. Im at work right now on my remote desktop. I cant imagine being at work for these 9+ hour days and not be able to actually "use" the internet. Hahaha

a security IT group of good measure wouldn't rely on network traffic only.
where i work they have keyloggers and screen grabbers. you don't log in
on the desktop they use NDC. you can't even run taskmanager or see the
xp desktop.

before they went to the NDC, folks got fired for using ssh tunnels to get
around the security measures put in place.

i bring my personal laptop to work and get online wirelessly.

Damn!
I am a Desktop Engineer @ where I work & we create the image and our security is so sad & understaffed that its :lol: I think b/c of HIPPA they cant do the screen grab thing but I have access to the group policies, etc etc- sometimes I still get so paranoid I bring my Mac to work & put a IP on it; like they may be building a case on me :lol::lol:

I am a systems engineer and you won't get a personal computer on our network.

Even the wireless we have setup for guests and auditors is secured .

If you get on our network wired or wireless you can and will be monitored.

As I said If I need access to my home computer I use TeamViewer.

We don't do key logging and screen capture .

Damn sounds crazy.

I'm a systems engineer at my job and we can browse at will! I even bring my cheapo tablet and netbook for the hell of it to get on our guest wireless. Ha. But I'd use logmein if I had a policy blocking me after I did some research it.

This thread makes me appreciate my position ha. My entire team is swapping youtube and rededit crap all day long.

This.

First time you start typing, them keyloggers start recording. If your work is really secure, it ain't worth it. I dont even bring mu iPhone to work with me.

i can't get on the job's wireless. manager has to put in a request
and it has to be work justified. i use cablevision's free wireless
since i'm a customer.

i know quite a few folks tether since i see their phone information
on the wireless list.

your going to have to pay for internet access...not the remote desktop.

I use either my blackberry Tour and tether a laptop at work...Or use my 4G USB adapter on the same laptop. both have 5 Gigs each month.

No cameras, phones, or pretty much any electronic devices are allowed.

DAMN! Sounds rough. Stupid management at your place of work my friend. Allowing employees to have freedoms increases morale which in turns affects performance. These locked down no browsing manager idiots need to get with the times.

I remember a long time ago, I came across someone with a job that had suck stupid policies that you couldn't even have a pencil or any form of reading material at your desk. Much less basic internet or intranet browsing.

Here's what I do because its easier than logmein on my tablet and phone and if your using a remote computer you don't have admin rights to you don't get errors trying to install logmein plugins.

Using Windows 7:

  1. Enable RDP
  2. Open port 3389 on your modem (you can change this to another port if you want
  3. Create remote acct example (rdhffa) strong strong pw(#@!fert^YGX)
  4. Enable concurrent logins in registry (if you share this computer you won't kick other users off)
  5. Setup free account at www.dyndns.com
  6. If you have cable skip this step **DSL users you made need the desktop app since your IP could change**

Now from any computer you can click start and type
mstsc then input your new free domain ...

Note if you and the old lady share a computer or laptop you can use this as a hideaway acct. You can hide this acct from the login screen in the registry.

Good lookin. I do have Windows 7 and was gonna try to set it up myself but I aint trippin on the $10 a month if that'll work.

Listen to this man. I monitor people and you maybe be shocked at the dumb shit people try to get away with. We refer to our system and set up simply as 'witness'. We have a log of every keystroke, screen shot and outgoing/incoming calls as well as cameras. We also tell all workers about it during training so when someone gets caught it's because they exposed themselves to a system they knew were in place. Don't get caught up. It's not worth it.

I dont know where this guy works, but I know of a place of work contracted by the federal gov that has the same policy, no electronic devices, but everybody that works out there is well compensated.

Yea years ago, I worked at Charter communications and for a long while they had a no browsing policy. If you did, your manager would pop up with screen-shots of you going site to site with length of time spent on each page. Then they changed it that you could browse in between calls if you worked on the phone or with caution if you didn't. In the end, it got the same result. A warning or worse if other issues were present.

Which always made me look for things like that in regards to contract positions. Although my current position is full time and I'm glad I don't have any form of restrictions so I don't need to worry about big brother or using any work arounds. :)
