I think this started a few days ago. I clicked inside my email a Southwest promo. This usually takes me to their landing page, no proble, But the past few days I've been getting this error:

Access Denied

You don't have permission to access "http://www.southwest.com/air/low-fare-calendar/" on this server.

-->I have NO idea what this is. I looked up online ad YT and wen through all the troubles shooting:
1. Clear cache
2. Reset Network
3. Mnaually unplugged router/modem and plugged back in
4. Even added Touch VPNextension for Google (even though this happends on ALL browsers)
5. Also, made sure Proxy was unchecked in Windows 10 (other than the extension I do not use VPN)

I referenced this YT Video

I am unsure if it's a virus (it might be as I tried it on my phone and was able to click the promo in the email)

Can someopne please assist?

If you used Edge, then try Chrome or Firefox browsers.

Just noticed you tried other browsers. If you are using a VPN, try disconnecting it, then try accessing the site.
I do not use VPN. I tried the extension as per the vidoe but it did not fix the issue.

I even changed DNS:

Rebooted and nothing. I am truly stumped at his point

number one- Never- neva, neva, neva eva... click on something that lands in your email box. Not that everything that comes in is bad, but it's a good habit to get into.

2nd, open a new web browser page and manually enter the address using "https" instead of just http. If you can hit the site, it's possible that the link was spoofed.

Can you access it from your mobile device?
Yes on 5G, no issues. That's why I think either a virus or my IP is blacklisted

Never ben an issue as these are emails usually followjng a receipt. I never do it with strange emails
Have you tried the Southwest app instead?
No, though sure it works as clicking the link works perfectly on my phone (5G not wifi)
Lolz did he copy/paste the same link here on the board? I hope no one clicks on it.
I sure did. I copied exactly as I received in my email. Should not have anything wrong with it as the link works fine on my phone.

I'm currently running a virus scan since I recently updated my ESET. Funny thing is this did the same for TravelZoo (Access Denied); while running a virus scan, I refreshed the page and it worked like a charm. Still, Southwest is showing that same error.

No one else has ever experience this before?

Clear your browser cache, cookies AND temporary internet files (manually delete all files in folder) then try typing URL in browser. I have checked the URL and it does work for me.

Thanks for the reply. I did that as one of the first methods and unplugged the router.

No fix.

I really think at this point it's a virus (hoping ESET can find and delete or quarantine it) or my IP is blacklisted.

Almost impossible to be anything else, though I could be wrong which is why I started this thread. Glad you confirmed what I saw on my phone

Update:

Been running ESET Virus scan for nearly 36 hours straight.

Only TravelZoo went from 'Access Denied' to a normal site.

Interstingly, I clicked another emailfor Eddie Bauer>and got a 403 Error, though I was able to open it on Incognito Mode. But, this does NOT work for Southwest. Still getting that issue.

As someone brought up, it may be a HTTP issue, though odd I can do it on my phone (5G cpnnection) but not my WiFi

I changed it to '1' when I was first researching a solution

the first thing that stands out to me with that url is "http"

try adding an "s" to the end of that, so that its secure. "https:"

works for me.

only showed red for a .net site

it does it automatically; matter of fact I culd nt even post a screeenshot via IMGBB! Imgur shows they are at capacity
{"data":{"error":"Imgur is temporarily over capacity. Please try again later."},"success":false,"status":403}

  • SW1.png - You have been forbidden to use this website.

So you have a virus scanner running in the browser? If so you probably have to whitelist the site from the virus scanner

May have to circle back. I will reboot later and see if this resolves. See, this whole issue happened before I indtalled ESET (was using Windows Defender prior)

Have you reset your network so it picks up a new IP?
Unplug your modem/router (both) for 30+seconds and reconnect.
If it doesn't work, call the ISP and ask them to assign a new IP.

Did the first 2, though not really looking forward to the 3rd option.

Looking to see on my end as it is so sporadic.

Thanks to all who have assisted btw

Can you try setting your DNS servers to 8.8.4.4 and 8.8.8.8 and see if that works?

Plug out the power chord for your modem for no less than two hours. After you reboot that modem you should have a new IP. Unless you specifically paid for a static IP.

For now I will leave as is since chaning it to 1 did nothing and unsure about all these changes I made prior to making this thread

I think 30 mins is the most I left it unplugged.

May try it.

ONLY Macy's.com does not work. Oddly, now Southwest works when clicking the ad from my email (I did nothing new for this to work).

I tried whitelisting Macy's url via here but no fix. fuck it, will do from my ohone if that important

BTW>thanks to all who pitched in with ideas. Always appreciated

Forgot to update this in case anyone ever has he same issue.

it wold appear it was a virus preventing this odd issue. I downloaded set home trial, ran the scan for hours, a few reboots later, no issue and back to normal.

thanks again to all who gave possible solutions
