A former Henrico middle school teacher was sentenced Monday to six years in prison for multiple sex crimes involving a former student.

Megan Jordan Swanson, of Chesterfield, pleaded guilty to several charges of carnal knowledge and one count of indecent liberties of a minor earlier this year. The victim was a student of Swanson’s during the 2022-23 school year and was 14 years old at the time of the offenses. Last year, police said the sexual acts happened while Swanson was a teacher at Hungary Creek Middle School.

On Monday, she received a sentence of a total of 40 years, with 34 years of those being suspended. After she serves six years in prison, she will be placed on 20 years of supervised probation.
