Along with his award for best supporting actor for his performance in Creed, Sylvester Stallone received a standing ovation. It was the first Globe Award for Stallone, who reprises his signature character of Rocky Balboa, in the movie, and was nominated 39 years ago as best actor for the original Rocky. "I was hit by tumbleweed, it was a long time ago," Stallone ackowledged as the applause subsided. He thanked his family, producers, agents and execs at both MGM and Warners, "and most of all I want to thank my imaginary friend Rocky Balboa for being the best friend I ever had." But as he exited the stage, he failed to acknowledge the film's co-writer and director Ryan Coogler, who first conceived of the new movie.

there it is...

Man, just the fact that a fictional character "Rocky" has a shrine in front of the capital of Pennsylvania should already alert you.

I'm still trying to figure out why the Philly native late Joe Frasier does have a shrine?
they finally did give him a staute..after he died..

there it is...

I was going to post this, but apparently, he went back on stage and thanked Coogler.

Everytime I see cats hyping Rocky or Expendables I remember this

Never saw this. Not remotely surprised tho.

Also not surprised he didnt acknowledge or thank Coogler or Jordan until someone reminded him and he wrnt back as an after thought during commercial break.

The overreaction in this thread is scary. Dude's really sithing on the Internet emotional because he forgot to mention someone's name?

Ava Devornay (sp) was talking about this on Twitter tonight

She didn't say White privilege but I will

because IF he didnt the negative backlash would have cost him an Oscar nomination

that is all.
yeah..AFTER the moment.

If this had happened 10-15 years ago, I might have read something into it, but Stallone is 69. I just read an interview where he talked about getting older. He said, 'I forget something new every day.'

If there's beef between the two, Coogler doesn't strike me as the type of cat to stay quiet about it.

.

disagree

Ryan is a stand up brother and keeps his private quiet and deals one on one by all reports.

Of course this could have been an old man mistake...i understand trust.

but after ALL that the dude who CREATED the concept begged you repeatedly directed the film...you forget?

Completely?

OK

I really hope for all of Ryan's work it was a simple time thing and he wanted to save the best for last.

And would have been a STUPID thing to do just off the business.

But in the current climate?

after calling someone the n-word on camera (interesting when Gibson used video taped an anti Semitic slur his career was over Beiber, Stallone not so much)

Sly kinda lost the automatic benefit of the doubt.

so I think all this initial reaction is understandable.

Stallone probably forgot he didn't write and direct this one.

Yeah I was gonna say shit did he know he didn't direct it lol?

I was shocked to see he didn't and as a producer he let Coogler direct and Michael B star.

Creed was a cold ass movie though. I didn't think Rocky was cold enough to get no damn award for his acting though lol. Shit I would've gave it to one of them Straight Outta Compton cats if they just wanted to give out an award.

such sensitive victims.......during every acceptance speech there is always someone who is forgotten....unless you have a prepared statement that you read you will omit somebody.

so busy trying to be clever and minding your short time to speak you will forget somebody.....I doubt Coogler really gives a fuck

it says it is his first so they probably just gave it to off the strength of that

True. In the end, the brother was paid and will continued to get paid through residuals.
To hell with some speech at a B-level awards show that no one will remember a week from now. So long as my royalty checks are paid on time and in the correct amount, I'm good.
