I think comming out of the closet was a bad move for the league. A good move for gay rights, but it is selfish being the person she played like she was. U know when the league was forming the main issue was keep that shit quiet. everybody knew that that issue would be the main reason for negative reactions to the league. Now I have been the biggest fan of the league and I really enjoy most of the games. I remember all of the women when they were in collage. Natalie Williams UCLA vollyball and basketball Lisa USC Cheryl Miller USC: speaking of cheryl u kind of knew but it was not in your face and she always looked like a girl.
I went to a sparks game in 2005 and I was really Surprised at all of the gay women and how they were just flirting and doing adult type of embracing all over: I am a 42 year old man and I like to sneak a feal and other naughty shit. but I control it in public.
I have talked to alot of women and most say I don't really care long as they don't fuck with me. then I asked would they trip if their girl wanted to play and they all had serious issues. Remember the mothers of some of the girl tennis players when martina's scandal came up. Bottom line is wnbm not confused womans basketball assoc. Better get your minds right before the bottom falls out. We live in america u know they hate gay and minorities Oh yea the short hair cuts and the tats right now isn't helping either.

I think the lesbianism that permeates the WNBA will become David Stern's "steroids" issue. Everyone knows it's going on. But they keeping it quiet, in order to promote the WNBA as "family entertainment.

I've been to many WNBA games (Portland Power, before that team folded. And the New York Liberty). You see soccer moms with their daughters. And you see many Lesbians having a good time. I've not seen any "adult" or "out there" behavior when I've gone to the games. Then again, it's not like I'm roaming around the arena checking for it either.

Let's face it, as far as many folks in this country are concerned, Gay/Lesbian and Family should not even be in the same sentence. And I'm sure the league is aware of that. Swoops "coming out" is only the beginning of what may be a tough issue for the WNBA to handle in the future.

On a personal tip,

My issue with Swoops was that she was living on the "DL", but being called "heroic" for coming out. Now with all this talk about DL Black Men these last few years, where were all the haters?

Just something eles for single mothers and coupled parents to deal with concerning our children. I know this is the land of free speech and etc. but our children seem to have been forgotten. Everyone is about what they feel and want and not how confusing this is for kids coming up. We already knew Swoops was but what is so heroic about her coming out.

The NBA survived when Dennis Rodman came out of the closet
and the WNBA can survive this.....

The NBA has a pretty strict policy that forbids players from
fraternizing with cheerleaders, all the WNBA has to do is
institute the same sort of policy at their games. Unfortuntely,
attendance is so bad that they need every head they can find
so they cannot spot lesbians from attending games. They can,
however, keep them from mingling on the sidelines (if that does
indeed go on)

The bottom line (and this has been discussed here ad infinitem)
is that the quality of play is what will determine whether the WNBA
survives or not. Not the sexuality of the players. Hell, I got no
problem with Swoopes and I have no problem taking my daughter
to a game IF they didn't play so damn sloppily

They're still making the same mistakes they were making 10 years
ago when they first started. The best teams too.

I believe their problem is that their is not enough talent to go
around. The NBA did NOT start out as 30 teams. For a long time,
in the 60's, there were only about 15 teams and four divisions
Mainly because they had to establish themselves in cities before
they drew big crowds. Hell, Los Angeles didn't even have a franchise
until George Mikan retired

They should condense the league back into 12 teams and two
divisions. With only the top two teams in each division making
the playoffs. I believe that will elevate the level of play
