Hey fam,
My old lady makes this sweet potatoe pie recipe every year but she lost the recipe and she can't remember how to make it (don't ask me how she makes it every year and forgot :smh:) She does know it had lemon juice in it, does anyone have a recipe they know of that has lemon juice in it so I can jog her memory?

Thanks in advance...

Is she sure its lemon juice and not orange? I've never heard of such a thing, but my brother makes his candied yams with orange juice. :dunno:

They don't make it man, I looked it up online and I can't find one...

I found one online:

2 cups mashed sweet potatoes

3 tablespoons butter, melted

2 eggs, beaten

3/4 cup white sugar

3/4 cup milk

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1/2 cup light whipping cream

1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
2.Combine the potatoes and melted butter in a mixing bowl. Stir the eggs, sugar, milk, nutmeg, vanilla, lemon juice, and light whipping cream into the potato mixture. Beat until well blended and smooth; pour into the pie shell.
3.Bake in preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Serve warm or cold.

6 medium sweet potatoes
1 stick butter, at room temperature
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 ½ cans Evaporated Milk
½ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla flavoring
1 tsp lemon extract
1 tsp coconut flavoring
2 pie crusts - frozen

Boil potatoes in the skin. Cool potatoes enough to handle, but while still warm peel the potatoes and mash with the butter and the sugar. Beat with a mixer, as the strings from the potatoes form around the mixer beaters, rinse the strings off. While beating add the eggs, flavorings and Pet Milk. Pour the mixture into the frozen pie shells. Bake at 375° for one hour.

I never tried my moms sweet potatoe pie cause I rarely eat sweets but I'm gonna try that shit this time. I can cook everything else. Shit she had my ass ready to eat the damn tin foil.

I was trying to figure out how my grandmama makes her sweet potato pie last year, and I ate a slice trying to really taste all the ingredients and I noticed she had either lemon juice or lemon extract in it and I would say it was lemon extract. So whichever recipe has lemon extract in it, I would roll with.
