Dude does the best hood docs in the business. Check if you got an hour!

Beginning at the age of 12, Karlton Hines was destined for the basketball court, tearing up the pavement at the street pickup games he would invariably win. But Karlton was pulled in another direction as well, called to the life of the street; reaching college age he attracted attention from every top Division I college in the country, but he was reluctant to abandon his roots. While coaches ventured to the projects from their suburban enclaves, Karlton got more and more involved with the underground world of the street, and at 18 he was a major player in the drug industry. Karlton's fate, however, was not one he would ultimately choose, as he met his tragic end at the wrong end of a gun barrel.

The Street. NO future in it. Period. Fools never save money. Never go far. Make enough money to get the fuck outta the hod. Some even have major opportunities to get out of the hood (this dude had division 1 schools checking him out, in one year he coulda been NBA), but they just don't leave. I COULDN"T WAIT to leave the hood. If I had my way I'd never go back.

The PROJECTS/HOOD. It's a mentality not place. The HOOD think takes people under within 10 years if they've never been exposed to another way of life. It's all they know.

I was lucky to escape. Even when I was out, it was like going through withdrawals.
I still thought and acted HOOD for about 3 years until it finally left my bloodstream.

Now, I see things through what my friends say is "white people's eyes" and I can tell you frankly I now see how FUCKED UP the HOOD mentality is.

watched it 2day. Sad situation. Fam had the world at his fingertips but lost it all over some BS.

Worst part, in the end, it's hard not to point the finger at anyone other than himself.

He had it all:
Good given physical talent
Great work ethic
Leadership and organizational skills
Decent looking guy.

He could have made his wealth in the NBA or in the corporate world.
Instead he choose the street ... and like almost every street story, it ends tragically.

Yeah, he had a chance to get out playing ball, but he lived his life.

I will tell you this, I bet he lived a better life in his 25 years than most americans live.

:smh: :smh: :smh: :smh:

Sad but true most americans live check to check and cannot wait til weekends when they dont even have enough money to have fun or relax, cause BAM, right back to the rat race.

Most americans dont have the cars they want, the homes they want, the toys they want.

I aint talking bout all the BGOL ballers.

But he lived his life, he could have been jordan or what not, but he chose to hustle.

Or he could have busted his ass lived check to check, never, ever, ever had anything he really wanted and died right after he retired.

Or worse yet, live in retirement where you cannot even get scripts.

He made a bad choice, but sad to say even his bad choice is better then 75% of americans lives, falt out.

Grown ass men rolling mini vans, nagging wives, child support, check to check, never banging the woman they want, full of regret.

Only thing he regrets is not watchign his back that day.

Yeah its no future in the streets, you stack and get out, but lets not forget alot of the cats that stack and stay and burn out have lives better then most hardworking folks who die fucked by the company they put 30 years in for.

His life wasnt anymore of a waste, in fact it was better than any muthafucking soldier who died in iraq for bush.

At least he died for shit he chose to do.

Meanwhile 19 year olds getting merked for bush that got away from the streets, what do they have to show for it................................................

lets keep everything in context.

He burnt his candle on both ends, but better then getting off the streets only to get ya dick blown off and for what? 2k a month?????

Nobody is perfect, but I have known plenty of hustlers to stack money and get out, the steroetype of every hustler dying in the streets is wrong.

Just like this being the land of opportunity is wrong, only 10% take advantage of it and start their own shit or stack, same with hustlers, they are nothing but a micro of the general population.

Most wind up dead or in jail, just like most hard working people end up in debt and unhappy.
