Steve Jobs: I'll Spend all Apple's money to destroy Android

http://mobilesyrup.com/2011/10/20/s...destroy-android-because-its-a-stolen-product/

I dont mean to fuel the fire of the Apple vs Android war, but....

The upcoming authorized bio of Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson will uncover much about the man. The book goes on sale on Monday but somehow the Associated Press purchased one ahead of time. They took the time and wrote some initial thoughts, which are quite revealing of how Jobs operated and his quest for perfection and simplicity. However, there was a side of Jobs that was downright nasty. According to the book the relationship with once Apple Board member Eric Schmidt, who was also CEO of Google, was immediately tarnished when Android was officially launched in 2010. Apparently Jobs “was livid” and accused Google “grand theft” for how the OS operated.

Jobs stated “I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple’s $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong. I’m going to destroy Android, because it’s a stolen product. I’m willing to go thermonuclear war on this”. I would say that’s a bit more than being “livid”.

Majority of the manufacturers are helping with the growth of Android, Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony Ericsson and Motorola have all committed to releasing more devices with the Android OS. A recent Gartner study predicts that Google’s Android OS will capture 48.8% of the smartphone market share by 2015, Apple will have 17.2%.

Wait, I know those words sounded familiar, isnt that what Beta said to the VHS?

iPhone can't be the Betamax because the iPhone was out before Android. It'd be more like "Isn't that what the VHS said to the DVD" except in this case the VHS runs smoother, has more support, better build quality, and the best customer service.

Somebody please dig Steve up and tell him he lost

There isn't one Android phone that has sold 4,000,000 units in 2 days.

Really? I think youk need to check your facts.

Beta was the first popular home video system. There was U-matic video tape before that.
Also, of the more popular formats, Beta came first, the following year (1976) VHS came out, and Laser Discs two years after that.
It took Beta and VHS to make home video popular.
A good book on that period, thats out of print now, is Fast Forward: Hollywood, the Japanese, and the Onslaught of the Vcr (Hardcover) by James Lardner (Author)

I've always wondered this. Given Android lets you do whatever you want to it... What personally, do you actually do? (serious question)

Everytime I have this conversation, I get a response about widgets, and how they can place them wherever they want... Then I ask "honestly, do you actually use those widgets"... and I get a :(

basically most of the tasks that you have to jail break your iphone for can be done on android.

It was porn that put VHS over the top of Betamax, porn that put Blu-Ray over HD-DVD, and porn will be the key to Android's ultimate triumph over the iPhone and iOS.

I thought Android launched in 2007?

What else did he do?

Aiding Obama's Reelection Campaign

Jobs suggested that Obama meet six or seven other CEOs who could express the needs of innovative businesses -- but when White House aides added more names to the list, Jobs insisted that it was growing too big and that "he had no intention of coming." In preparation for the dinner, Jobs exhibited his notorious attention to detail, telling venture capitalist John Doerr that the menu of shrimp, cod and lentil salad was "far too fancy" and objecting to a chocolate truffle dessert. But he was overruled by the White House, which cited the president's fondness for cream pie.

Apple fanboy quote
Good. That's exactly the attitude Apple should continue to have about Android with Steve gone. It's a cheap knock-off of a beautiful product that took no imagination to copy

this is real talk.

but even further than that...its me being able to do or have on my phone what i want. apple doesn't let you do that.

i wouldn't be surprised if apple realizes this now that jobs isn't the boss anymore and changed up their focus.

I can't see why Apple would do this because it's current business model is so successful. Why mess up a good thing? It would take a serious competitor that not only has the hardware, but also has a full ecosystem that could threaten Apple. I thin Amazon has the potential to do that, but it won't be easy.

No link, the year Android started is wrong (2007) and other parts inaccurate.

Porn didn't choose Blu-ray over HD DVD, it was the opposite. It wasn't until Warner Brothers went Blu-ray only that put it over the top.

Here's a few, I can download files directly to my phone, like megaupload, fileserve links.
I can also download free music with my phone. No need to jailbreak it to do that.I can download a .rar file and extract it's contents on my phone. I've yet to see an IOS device allow me to do that.

basically most of the tasks that you have to jail break your iphone for can be done on android.

Out the box my android phone performs much more like my computer, I dont have to do "special warrenty voiding tricks" to get certain things to work.
