BGOL designers I'm looking for some information on starting up a clothing line that will only feature two items: polo shirts (with my custom logo) and dress shirts (with my custom logo), The dress shirts will be dressy enough to wear with a tie/suit but also casual enough to wear without a jacket or tie and can be dressed down with jeans.
I'm not a designer, but I know how I want both shirts designed. The designs are based off combinations of different shirts I've seen and have taken pictures of them. What I'm trying to figure out is how to get the shirts from just a concept in my head to and actual product.
Aside from the obvious questions around starting a clothing line, the main questions I have are:
1) How would I go about getting a prototype of both kinds of shirts made?
2) Once the prototype is made, how would I go about getting them manufactured in batches to get them to market?
3) In terms of fabrics/materials, for the polos I've be looking for heavy weighted mesh pique 100% cotton (similar to Lacoste polos). And for the dress shirts I would looking for fabrics of the pinpoint oxford type. Where would I get those kinds of fabrics? Overseas somewhere?
Thanks in advance for any replies/responses.
