they seem to be pretty much the same :dunno:

am i missing something or is this pretty much like trying to compare coke against pepsi?

does Pandora let you pick the songs/albums you wanna listen to now?

Spotify vs. Google Music vs. Itunes Music is a better comparison

Spotify because of what this man said ^^^Spotify subscription is cheaper than google, isn't it?!

I use pandora.... I hate it when you pick a artist & they play another artists music... if I select tupac radio... All I want to hear is tupac!!! Not another California rapper! I refuse to pay for it! FOHWTBS! I got the tunein radio app... All the free music I want! WBLS, Hot97, empowerment radio network, & V-103. Maybe ESPN

I got this bullshit ass iPhone so I have iTunes but I really Dnt fuk wit it! To listen to podcast & shut like that I go to soundcloud.

Can't imagine spotify being much different than pandora. Kinda like hulu+ vs. Netflix... I'd take Netflix over Hulu & I have both so...

The main difference is in the library. I think Pandora has about 1.5 million songs and Sptoify has more than 30 million. That's cray. But, Pandoras' shuffle function is great when I want a mix of certain genres. Also like Pandoras' custom channel creator. I'm still learning Spotify but their library is awesome. Also Spotify signal is 320 kbps OGG; Pandora is 192 kbps AAC.

I have google. They supposedly have 40 million and I pay $9.99.

Pandora only does radio stations based on song, album, artist, etc.

Spotify & Google Music do that and allow you to listen to full albums & singles. If you wanted to play all songs from 1 artist, you can do that too. I believe Spotify's free version is just like Pandora but with a much bigger catalog.

yall missing out...

Haven't used Pandora in years. Been rockin with Spotify since last summer. You can also play songs on your computer in spotify and make them available on your phone. If Pandora is the same as it was when I used it they really aren't that similar at all

I hate both for the ads but I like that spirit lets you choose from the whole album of an artist.

I like the pandora for the stations. The selection is curated better and you discover new music. it feels like a someone that knows the genre of music is making the selection

I tried to use spotify (my wife's account) but the stations are not that good. Foe example, i think I was trying to listen to a roots reggae station and it played Dance hall, Sugar ray, and some other bullshit that a real reggae fan would would know is wack.

I prefer Pandora. I usually listen to it all day at work. True, it doesn't let you listen to the songs/albums you want to hear on demand. But, it's a far better alternative to the radio..

Excluding news stations like NPR, most radio stations play only a select few songs repetitively and repeatedly: They assume people only tune in for short times--such as while commuting in their car, or at home while they're preparing for work. So they purposefully delimit their play lists to current and popular hits to cater to casual listeners. Average, everyday, music radio stations aren't designed for people who listen for extended amounts of time.

Contrary to this, you can listen to Pandora for an extended amount of time, including your entire workday, and not hear the same song twice. True, it doesn't let you select your own playlists, or repeat songs. But, it does let you determine which genre of music you hear. Moreover, if you listen to a genre station for any amount of time you're sure to hear a song you like you've never heard before, or you'd forgotten. Plus, Pandora's free option has the same, if not less, amount of commercials as regular radio.

My spotify sub is 5.99 monthly. Every month..not an intro rate.

interesting.. what promo did you use to get that rate? or was it just that price in the early days?

new subs (except students) were $10 when I first checked it out a couple years ago

Pandora is a radio station albeit tuned better but forbidden to play selected songs

Spotify us cloud library you rent / subscribe

It's like comparing regular cable TV to On demand

Spotify; it's a Godsend if you have small kids and need music to keep them entertained in the car or to get them to sleep; whole Disney library in the palm of my hand

But, Spotify doesnt have a safe mode like Pandora and most of their songs are the originals that kids should not be listening to.

As it's been said, if you want a better radio, then Pandora. If you want to be able to select your playlists/songs, then you want Spotify.

PANDORA.

It's the "radio-style" aspect of it that attracted me.

And it's cheaper than Spotify annually.
Though it did go up to about $55 earlier this year.
But I'm still on the $48 annual price until next year.

I hate the thought of paying for radio.... I use pandora for free. And spotify free version sucks. Pandora (free) sucks as for as verity.

TuneIn radio at work for ESPN WBAI and Hands on radio for house music.

iTunes Radio has pretty good verity. This is a good post. Learning shit

iTunes Radio. 43Million in the catalog, Free w/ads or $25/yr

Who can even compare to that? Plus they have amazing curation and sometimes even on free stream, it'll play for hours without an ad.

Plus they pay the artists better than the other streaming services.

yeah haven't used my pandora app since 2013, been rocking with spotify for a minute now

Pandora that is on jailbroken device is the shit with no commercials. But Amazon Radio is a fast riser in the music game if you have a Prime account.

I use Google Music, tried spotify premium for a little while. Liked Google's better, even when I got a new iPhone their new app still works and I think its the best out.
