The Avengers are mourning the loss of one of their own following the passing of Mexico-born actor Alexis Ortega, who Latin American audiences knew as the voice of Spider-Man.
World Dubbing News was one of the first outlets to report the sudden death of the young actor on Tuesday, writing on Instagram:
“We regret to announce the sensitive passing of voice actor Alexis Ortega, we send our condolences to his family, friends and colleagues at this very difficult time.
Ortega, who was born in Mexico, has built an impressive list of voice acting credits over the past 15 years. In addition to standing in for Tom Holland as Peter Parker and Spider-Man in the Latin American version of several Marvel movies, including Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Avengers: Infinity War (2018).
Other major voice acting credits include roles in Ortega Pixar’s Finding Dory and Cars 3 and Disney’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.
On-screen, Ortega had recurring roles in the Netflix series Luis Miguel: The Series and The House of Flowers. His final credit, according to IMDb, will be in the Spanish-language horror short El Segundo Piso, which is currently in post-production.
Friends and fans took to Ortega’s Instagram page to share their sadness over the news on his last post, which was a selfie he shared of him with his dog on November 7, 2025.
“There is so much pain to receive this news,” wrote one respondent. “It hurts so much, so much!!!.”
