N.W.A.'s "Straight Outta Compton" is this week's #1 catalog album and narrowly misses the YTD catalog top 50 - it's #51 with 69,000 sold in 2015. Week 34 sales of 32,000 make it the 3rd highest weekly total for a catalog album this year - Led Zeppelin's "Physical Graffiti" is #1 (40,000) and the Rolling Stones "Sticky Fingers" #2 (34,000).

Catalog continues to take a bigger share of total album sales - 10 years ago, the 2005 year-end top 200 albums contained 13 catalog titles - currently the 40 top albums in the list below are in the overall top 200.

N.W.A is in the Top 5 overall sales and three of the group's members chart their solo projects.

Dr. Dre saw nearly 51,000 units of total activity on this week's Billboard Top 200 chart with Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre and he remains in the top five overall. N.W.A's Straight Outta Compton shot up to the #4 spot in its fourth week on the chart in the midst of the success of the film of the same name depicting the Rap group's career. Three of the group's members, including Dr. Dre, saw their solo projects chart as well. Future remains in the top 10 for the fifth straight week with Dirty Sprite 2 landing at the #9 position. The project had the most streams of all albums with more than 16 million.

Dr. Dre Charts All Three Studio Albums

Besides Compton charting at the #3 position, Dr. Dre's other two solo albums charted this week. 1992's The Chronic lands at #38 with 10,516 total units of activity and 1999's 2001 hits the #55 spot with 8,674 units, beating A$AP Rocky's At.Long.Last.A$AP and Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city.

Chinx Debuts On Chart With Posthumous Album

Chinx's posthumous album, Welcome to JFK, debuts at the #21 spot on the chart with 16,467 total units of activity. The New York rapper was shot and killed in May. His manager and producers finished his album, which is made up of 12 songs with features from Ty Dolla $ign, Jeremih and Meet Simms.

Its funny the numbers be like 300 or less but some of them albums I know over a million people have.

Meek's first week of pure album sales was actually 216k, the 289k number is Billboard/SoundScan's new (started in 2015) “total album equivalent units” count - a proprietary calculation of album sales, single sales, and streams that is supposed to be a more accurate measure of weekly overall popularity. But yeah, Meek's numbers have dropped dramatically to 4638 last week and with the Pink Print tour now over this week, his sales should continue to free fall.

Ahh, I see. Crazy to see the real numbers and not just speculation, I was wondering just hope bad the bleeding was from his loss :smh: Dope album though. Good lookin' fam

This cat came out the gate the first week #1 with 289k copies, went on twitter and opened his big fucking mouth and has only moved 40k since? DAMN homie :smh: :smh: :smh: :smh:

Wack!

Where is the new Sean Price?

:hmm:
The numbers posted were
For The Week Ending 8/20/2015
The new Sean Price was put on sale on August 21, so his numbers haven't been released yet.

But REAL TALK - nothing by Sean ever sold more than a handful of copies in any given week while he was alive, and that was back when people actually BOUGHT records. Few of his many projects ever even spent more than a week or possibly two on the sales charts.

Do not expect any big sales numbers for what is essentially a rush released 8 song EP, especially after this initial first week of sales. I'll post the first week numbers as soon as they become available.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_Price_discography

If heads loved Sean and his music as much as they now claim posthumously, then the family would not be having to pass the hat and do all of these crowd sourcing fundraisers just to pay for his funeral.

we're in a singles culture now.

people are too ADD conditioned for most albums to have sustained longevity. plus the world moves so quickly in 2015. Meek's album came out last month and already it feels like old news. in past decades you could put out an album and have it be relevant for a whole season, even half the year or more if it was good and had good singles supporting it.

funny thing is that if this Game album that comes out later this year is everything people are saying it's gonna be, potentially the three best rap albums of the year will have come from west coast artists (Kendrick, Dre & Game)

I didnt know Game was still relevant in music

Dre and Kendrick are the only two not using a bunch of trap beats.

There are only 3 rap artist that are guaranteed platinum and those are Drake, Em and possibly Kanye. Kendrick is moving his way up that ladder and Rick Ross gets honorable mention. Games album "might" see 500,000-850,000. The rest of these cats are just gonna have to tour and make hot singles.

Taylor Swift. I wish someone would just knock her lights out one proper time.

The Game? 500k-900k? Nigga PALEASE

Lil Wayne can fart on the mic and sell a million records.

we're in a singles culture now.

people are too ADD conditioned for most albums to have sustained longevity. plus the world moves so quickly in 2015. Meek's album came out last month and already it feels like old news. in past decades you could put out an album and have it be relevant for a whole season, even half the year or more if it was good and had good singles supporting it.

This. I remember how it was back in the day when artists like Janet Jackson could drop like nine singles with videos for their albums.

Lil Wayne can fart on the mic and sell a million records.

Not these days.
