Yeah I think this is going to end up being a mistake for Sony..... I understood why you skipping E3 2019, you didn't have anything dropping, but you are dropping a new system. Even though E3 isn't what it use to be... It's still the best way for kats to get information about your product. You are going to let Microsoft dominate the event. I just don't know about this one.

For the first time ever, Sony won't use the annual E3 event to share key details on the next PlayStation

Sony Interactive Entertainment, the division behind PlayStation, announced Monday that it will not participate in this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) — the biggest video game industry event of the year, put on by the Entertainment Software Association this year beginning on June 9th.
"After thorough evaluation SIE has decided not to participate in E3 2020. We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year," the company said in a statement emailed to Business Insider.
Sony's decision not to participate in E3, reported earlier by GamesIndustry.biz, came as a surprise given the company's plans to unveil the PlayStation 5 later this year. It means we don't know when we'll get key details on the new console — while Sony has confirmed that it will play PlayStation 4 titles, and have a solid-state hard drive, we still don't know what the PlayStation 5 will look like or what it will cost.
Sony used the E3 event to announce the price and details for the American launch of the original PlayStation and the PlayStation 2, while the PlayStation 3 was officially unveiled at E3 2006. Most recently, in 2013, Sony debuted the design of the PlayStation 4 console and its price at the event. That streak now appears to be coming to an end.
This also marks the second consecutive year Sony won't be in attendance — a major blow for E3 given that Sony had been one of its largest exhibitors.
Sony's announcement has also fueled speculation about the future of the E3 event itself. Kotaku editor Jason Schreier tweeted that the event is "in the worst shape it's ever been," for the lack of a major heavyweight like Sony.

Video game industry analyst Mat Piscatella said the decision would not impact Sony's sales, saying it is "certainly not make or break for a new console or for a title to miss [E3]."
"E3 2020 will be an exciting, high-energy show featuring new experiences, partners, exhibitor spaces, activations, and programming that will entertain new and veteran attendees alike," the ESA said in a statement to Business Insider.

We have great respect for the ESA as an organization, but we do not feel the vision of E3 2020 is the right venue for what we are focused on this year. We will build upon our global events strategy in 2020 by participating in hundreds of consumer events across the globe. Our focus is on making sure fans feel part of the PlayStation family and have access to play their favorite content. We have a fantastic line up of titles coming to PlayStation 4, and with the upcoming launch of PlayStation 5, we are truly looking forward to a year of celebration with our fans."

E3 was needed when the internet wasn't available on every person 24 hours a day. Sony can host their own event for cheaper and can reach the people that can't or won't make the trek to LA for E3
Sony needs E3 like we all need "Next week on..." with a show we already tune in to see every week. I'm already going to tune in, I don't need a preview.

This what they said about last year's E3    I was walking around that show floor like :smh:

I bet Microsoft will be skipping it as well even though the Series X dropping around the same time

Can't wait to see what these new consoles are going to be like, will there be a true graphic leap? I fuck with both consoles so I will eventually have both. I will buy the PS5 first, then I'm getting the Xbox.

I already know I’m not gonna like the price for the PS5.
I'm guessing $500 fam.

I think we are graphically at a point where we have photo realistic characters and environments. The new focus will be on creating dense, living worlds, populated with NPCs and realistic physics.

sony will be fine without going....about the only thing left really is to see what the design will be for the system. i already know i'll be purchasing one at some point.

You think all the sony fanboys are not going to buy the ps5 whenever it comes out?

No fanboys are going to buy it.... but I think that from a good will for the consumer stand point it doesn’t look good.

I mean look at what Phil spencer just posted on his twitter after Sony said it’s dropping out.

Even though Sony clearly won the last generation... they are slowly making some of the same mistakes Xbox made with the launch of the Xbox One.

Sony is going to sell millions of consoles ... but Microsoft is locking up the future by seeking domination of the market share. What they are doing with Gamepass and xcloud to slowly turn this shit into a Netflix like subscription service is pretty smart... also the ability to get a Xbox one x on a prepaid payment plan is also consumer friendly.

Wait what? You think gamepass and subscription services are consumer friendly? All that shit is to lock you into their ecosystem which benefits the business not the consumer.

Both systems have you locked into paying a subscription service to play online multiplayer and access online content... But Microsoft is the one that is slowly turning what you are already paying into an Gaming sub service. You can already merge you xboxlive and gamepass sub for 14.99. Or 1 dollar if you sign right now..... eventually.. Xcloud will be included with gamepass. Giving you the ability to stream your games to your pc, phone, or any device that allows the Xcloud app.

Playstation Plus and Playstation now is currently going to run you close to 9.99 a piece.. And playstation now doesn't include recently released titles.

While I agree that subscription services are designed to lock you in....
1. 99% of the kats that have either system... are already locked in a subscription service with their console.
2. Gamepass is a fucking bargain... It allows you to download and play recent games that you wouldn't have thought about playing because both consoles have gotten away from Demos...
Like the game Afterparty...

It's a great game.. but I didn't want to pay 19 bucks for it, but it's included in gamepass... So I gave it a shot and I love it.

But what if I paid 19 dollars downloading this game and it sucked...
Because I downloaded the game... I couldn't even sell it or trade it at gamestop...

So I'm able to play this game... while only paying 4 dollars more then I what I was paying just to have xboxlive. That's only 48 bucks a year... Which is less then what I would have had to pay to purchase Gears 5... Which is also on gamepass.

Then when I'm ready to get rid of gamepass I can still purchase it from it and I'll get a discount.

How is any of this not consumer friendly.

You have multiple options......

They may have won number wise as in units sold cause the PS4 was never better than Xbox X console ever. matter of fact only thing PS4 had over PS3 is graphics other than that PS3 is still a better system than PS4 in 2020.

:itsawrap:

Yeah I agree.. Over all Xbox dropped a much more practical system. The E3 of 2013... was a fucking disaster for Microsoft. They did everything wrong and Sony took advantage... Microsoft ignored the gamers and thought that they could just throw out some shit and Sony took advantage.

I'm posted this article cause Sony is about to do the same thing....

Everyone is like.. That's not going to happen Sony has all the exclusives ....

Well it's not like the Xbox 360 didn't have a Shit ton of exclusives back when it completely dominated the PS3 because Sony fucked up with how they announced the price of the PS3. That mutherfucker was $599
