Should we be impressed?

My mom and dad have been married for 55 years, my father's mom and dad were married for 60 years, my mother's mom and dad were married, seemly for ever. Guess what, they both are "Black"!

This post is unlike you...

You have to understand that Haiti is one of the most racially divisive countries with a majority “Black” population outside of Africa. Haitian’s of African decent (the light complexion ones) don’t even call themselves Black. They call themselves Creole.

:confused::confused::confused:

Haitians not Black?

Also, what does that have to do w/ this post?

I was bored at work and threadjacked other boards.

What does Haiti have anything to do with this post? Get a clue already.

whats so special about interracial couples on this board. everybody is mixed some way shape or form. my parents are both minorities but very different in culture/nationality etc.

threadstarter likes honkies, guess she's unaware that honkies are the ones that let rapist and child molesters out of jail after 2 years.

In the UK, you would see a lot of interracial relationships e.g Black and white, white and asian, asian and black etc. I don't have a problem with this, but personally I prefer a black woman.

Looks like an interracial, homosexual relationship... Sure that's not Cuba Gooding Jr. and Fabio???

Should we be impressed?

You shouldn't be impressed, just as I'm not impressed by your parent's relationship or grandparents.

If that's what worked for them... fine. (Although every lengthy marriage is not necessarily a successful one.)

But it's interesting you feel the need to assert the other side, as if you're the defense team here. Are you also one of those people who considers gay marriage a threat to heterosexual marriage?

What works for you?

Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball
Diahann Carroll and Vic Damone
Diana Ross and Arnie Ness
Lenny Kravitz and Nicole Kidman
Cuba Gooding Jr and Sara (Kapfer) Gooding
Woody Allen and Soon Yi
Roxy Roker and Lennys dad(forgot his first name)

What works for you?

Personally? I don't have a "type," though I do like more "exotic" (if that's the word) or foreign chicks. Filipinas, Brazilian, etc. Mexican, black, white-- though I admit my self-image will not allow me to be the black guy who chases the white women which white men don't want-- be it excessive fat or whatever, I think it reveals a certain self-hatred to only be interested in those and I'm not one of those types.

Basically, I can extremely attracted to a Mexican girl today, see a totally different type of Filipina tomorrow and be attracted, and see two black chicks the next day not looking like any of those and be totally caught up.

What works for me most of all is not expecting what works for me to work for everyone else. You posted a picture of Barack Obama as if that somehow proves your point, but he looks as much like his white mother as anyone in his family. You'd look at him totally differently if the one woman he settled down with happened to be white? I know for a fact that his black support would not be the same if he were in a relationship such as that which produced him, even if all his policy and rhetoric were exactly the same, and I see a major problem with that.

So the photograph bothers you. My point exactly, niggling over the Black male, female relationship.

The first quote:

I didn't even know what you meant by this. I only responded "" but then the quick reply came up with a changed quote.

Second version:
So the photograph bothers you. My point exactly, niggling over the Black male, female relationship.

Now I see where you're coming from, but you sound like a dumbass! The photograph doesn't bother me-- the fact that you posted it and the context in which you posted it was what I took issue with.

You're not even responding to what I wrote and I'm not going to put any more time into responding to you if this is the best you have to offer. READ what is quoted above your response and then what you wrote-- they don't match; you addressed nothing. If you can pull out anything which I wrote suggesting I'm bothered by the photograph or Obama's choice of spouse, your response would be valid. You won't be able to because your response wasn't.

I've never said a bad word about Michelle Obama (aside from calling one comment she made stupid) and I really don't care about her in terms of this election, just as I don't care about Elizabeth Edwards. It's the fact that people would view this man, who is half-black and half-white, as less "authentically black" if his wife wasn't black that I have a problem with. He wrote about having once dated a white girl when he was younger and breaking it off because of race; I don't know what his past is in that area beyond that and I am not suggesting that he could have done better or isn't perfectly happy with his current wife. It's the fact that it HAD TO BE THAT WAY to get the approval of people like you that I take issue with. I really don't give two shits about the actual relationship and it's not even close to being a "problem" for me, much less a damn picture.
