SOL I Need Your help: Buying a handbag

well you just let me know. i don't have any of the brands you listed below.. my husband might have the coogi but oh well. i also worked in closeouts and thank god i dont have to wear that crap anymore. and no i don't spend 400, i buy it wholesale since i know the AEs.

I don't give a fuck what brands you wear and I buy wholesale cause i have a resale # and know all kind of people in the industry. So what? Unlike you I don't think I am better than other people because of what stupid fucking name is on my clothes. Thats an amerikkkan disease. I hope you get better some day. :smh::smh::smh:

www.zappos.com , and sometimes www.ebags.com has some okay purses...

However, if you have the time, I would try hitting up a discount department store like Century 21, Marshalls, TJ Maxx, etc. I've found some really good purses there for cheap... the ones here in Charlotte are selling some Coach and Dooney and Burke (neither label am I into, but I know women here go crazy for it). Personally, I prefer a company out of NJ called Latico Leathers... real good craftsmanship and classic designs that last...

Yes girl!!! I get a lot of nice purses from there... and Burlington Coat Factory too.. nine west for a fraction of the cost.. I have a nice ass real leather laptop bag BC that I receive nothing but compliments on!!

To the OP.. I don't believe you can expect good quality from a fake.. If you are going to invest in a purse... get the best you can for you're budget.... Don't just look @ the brands in Macys (Coach, Dooney & Burke, etc.,) shop around... If you're budget is 300, don't try to get a "good quality" fake LV, get a real eeh... Kenneth Cole, bEtsy Johnson or someone.. that's just what i would think...

damn why dont i ever meet any of these chicks that dont care weather the shit is real or fake??

I guess i lucked up with this one homie, shes a dime too! I thought the shit was real when i first met her, but she told me she would rather spend money going on a vacation or something, then on some over priced bullshit! I could respect that!

Thanks to everyone that helped!

I'm not getting into the politics, I'm just trying to get my girl something for Christmas that she'll like, I'll worry about saving the world tomorrow!

Good looking out for the links and info...

C/S. Just live within in your means. It's good stuff at every price point. I'm too cheap to spend on 300 on a bag though! Now a fly pair of boots with a stilleto heel.....
Luckily, I don't get to wear heels too often because I'd have a closet full of them.

To add onto her list:
Cole Haan
BCBG
Antonio Melani
Maxx New York
Latico Leathers (my personal fave)
Michael Kors
Donald J. Pilner

These are all bags I've rocked and, although they can get steep in price sometimes, they last a while and you can often find them at discount department stores for half their original cost. I would say the cheaper ones you'll find would be the Maxx New York and Latico brand...

i love burlington coat factory ! but not in NY b/c it's pretty picked over. they have a lot of baby phat purses if your girl would like that? you can probably get something designer on sale.

also you can usually get some marc by marc jacobs for less than 150 at loehmann's.

but if she is more of a traditionalist buy her cole haan or maybe furla.

bigirl why do you think i am american? if you were one of my cousins in gt i would send you some nice stuff too. i just don't shop at telco like you. that doesn't mean that i'm better than you. no one is saying that but you are thinking it, all paranoid. look, i have some emporio armani sandals i never wore - size 7 . they are beautiful, very sexy. you want them? they will look great for when you visit home next.
First of all I never heard of telco.
Second, thanks but no thanks, I don't care for Armani. BTW alot of their stuff is made you know where too....

well you would probably like telco judging from the brands you listed. they have several locations in brooklyn and queens. and emporio and giorgio armani are not made in china, the vendors are all italian companies. they buy the trademarks in italy to cover themselves, yes, but i am telling you, i have paid the invoices and dealt w the vendor, customs and logistics, it's made in italy.

armani exchange is mostly owned by a japanese company so i bet those clothes are made in china. i don't have any AX so i can't help you out w that.

I actually buy clothing and other goods based on a particular color that I wear exclusively. Not so easy to come by items in that color to begin with. I also do not wear synthetic materials. That would be my second factor. Then the cut and style of the garment has to suit me and be suitable to my tastes. I don't give a fuck about the brand name. Those brands I listed are not what I like per se, but I found items in the appropriate color and they were handy around the bedroom when I was making my post.

Actually what I wear does not even have a brand name. I wear traditional Tibetan silk garments or mudcloth garments cut in modern styles or traditional and antique Mayan huipils and the cloth cut into modern styles.
Other than those types of things I buy vintage designer items from the 60s and 70s and basic tank tops,t shirts, turtlenecks and things to wear underneath. Sorry hon, we are not on the same page at all whatsoever.

what color is it? you threw me off with the pepe jeans. now you sound like you dress like my landlord (extended fam). i don't like synthetic materials either but i stay away from silk. i also buy vintage designer - most of my best pieces were made 20+ years ago. it's all about having a happy mix, i wasn't saying before that i wear exclusviely one brand or only luxury brands, point is, i know where the fuck certain clothing comes from and i'm not talking cheap ass banana republic clothing. who makes your clothes? when i was growing up, my mother and i would visit a seamstress every two months. we chose the material. i just found a great tailor in bayridge..

I have a ton of old Pucci and Vera Wang. I have the original Diane Von Furstenberg wrap dresses, not the new copies. I really love my indigenous handwoven or embroidered textiles the best though. I am a beadwork artist so I really appreciate the work. The Tibetan raw silk is just so nice. I know the worms are in slavery though. You vegetarian?

As for jeans, jeans are jeans. They either fit well or they don't. Same applies to bullshit t shirts and turtlenecks and shit. OK I lied about synthetic materials cause I only like stretchy jeans and they have to come in a short length. Thats how I ended up with the Pepes. No writing or any of that. Just a very plain well fitting pair of jeans.

I won't lie. I LOOVE my vintage sneakers! :dance::dance::dance:

Back to the bags, I ended up with the bags because they are the hard to find color I want and nice styles and quality of leather. The one that did have a stupid D& G metal plate on it, I cut it off and put a little swatch of beadwork over it.

no, not veg but i just feel wrong getting it. i found a nice dior silk blouse in the summer from the 80s (very halston) and i felt so guilty. love the DVF original wrap dresses!! they are a little impractical for me though. have you seen the new DVF hq?

i have the jeans fit issue. all of mine are armani jeans now (not AX) but back in highschool i used to wear sergio valente. i can be anywhere from size 6-10, 27-29, bc my hips and butt just don't fit. i have to get everything hemmed. the sergios were nice bc they had lycra in them. the next best thing i found was moschino jeans jeans, they look tight but they are super comfortable and don't give you the camel toe. i don't like the writing on the jeans either.

VW is grouchy, that woman is mean. her company is always getting new people. she has nice pieces now but a lot of it looks like maternity wear to me for some reason.

I wore the original ORIGINAL Sergios back in the late 70s/early 80s when stretchy jeans were not invented yet. At the roller rink! I have several pairs of the new school ones. They are actually my favorites. The classic VW from the late 60s is amazing stuff. No clue what she is doing now. Are you talking about DVF on 14th and Washington? If so, yes I have been.
