So why are the NBA Finals ratings so bad?

The players aren't the same, there are no rivalries and the game is boring as hell, nothing good or bad just a few baskets.

I tried watching but the shit now looks like 2k and I hate that game. You have players in certain positions just doing anything, big men are on the line,PG's are in and out,PF's aren't even a big factor and the rest are just doing whatever the fuck they want, getting the ball isolating shoot over and over again.

Everyone has good points. But none of it addresses why viewership is down across the board.

The reason is due to the way we consume media has changed. You no longer need to watch a game or event on cable TV. Additionally, with YouTube, Twitter, etc, you virtually get play by play updates on everything. Is an even is too late at night, I usually catch the highlights online. This is the case with all sports.

So much going on. Election Year, people are probably watching cable news more than anything. Also, due to the season being halted, no fan excitement in the stands, social issues (as mentioned above) and it being football season and baseball playoffs, it just doesn't "feel" like the Finals.

The Finals was always an early summer event, it just feels weird with it being in the Fall.

Hopefully after next season, the NBA will get back to their normal schedule.

Football season just started, baseball playoffs and nba playoffs/finals...nhl just wrapped up....all during the final push to an election.
I wouldn't draw any conclusions on anything based upon 2020 ratings

...but not much has changed with the options for viewing over the last year or two I don't think. What are the numbers for all sports last year vs this year....if 2020 shows a huge dropoff, it would have to be the big difference between then and now....all of the sports competing in some cases for eyeballs but in all cases for attention.

There's plenty of reasons but i'll stick with basketball. Out of the remaining 4 teams, Lakers-Celtics and/or Nuggets-Heat would've made for more entertaining series. It's about how well the teams matchup imo. This shit looks terrible on paper and on the court. And that's no diss to Miami. I LOVE Butler's confidence but They're hurt. Lebron and AD just too much for them right now. The only thing that would even it out is if AD got hurt or some shit. Crowder out there trying to hurt Bron to even it out is hilarious.

Viewership trends:
NBA Finals Game 1: -45% to all-time low
Stanley Cup Final: -61% to 13-year low
U.S. Open (golf) final round: -56% to all-time low
Kentucky Derby: -43% to all-time low
Indy 500: -32% to all-time low

I GUARANTEE Lebron Lakers Kobe Clippers Philadelphia Doc Rivers Kyrie Kevin Durant is LEADING all forms of social media the last few days and will CONTINUE to do so over the weekend

so how they gonna explain and gauge that?
