I haven't had time to do trim my bushes around the house and my trimmers quit working so I decided to get 1 of the guys that's doing the neighbor's yard to trim my bushes. We have 3 guys that does work on my street...
Guy #1. A white guy that does excellent work but he said he would only do it if I go on a monthly plan and he's expensive. He has my neighbors yards looking like a golf course.

Guy #2 white guy that does average work and told me he'll charge $10 per bush.

Guy #3 a black guy that does average work he said he'll charge me $35 per bush and won't be able to do them for a couple of days.

Guess which guy made money that day?

unfortunately this is always seems like the case, well at least in my situation.

there are a lot of things we need to do to fix this shit but until people are ready to have a honest conversation about it we will forever be stuck in a loop

Also just because we are the same skin color doesn't mean you get the negro hookup im tired of that shit. Its funny how black folks (not all of them bgol :hmm:) constantly try to hustle you while white folks are quick to just pay what you ask for.

If you freelance you know what im talking about. I try to be fair with pricing but yet people still wanna try to get over on you. :hmm:

I don't like neighborhoods majority black that have no visible black businesses at all.

There should be black businesses alongside the 'mainstream' companies.

Lately I find myself buying Sean jean clothing.
My barber is black
Everything else in my neighborhood is Mexican or white.
Oh, I did have a black lawn man before my separation from my wife.

Just a bullshit artist race has nothing to do with it..

Point in the direction of quality black businesses and I will frequent them with no issues

Always have

And point me in the direction of some current quality black owned clothing companies

What are black men spending money on? Black women are buying out Louis vutton, fake hair, nails, tyler perry movies, designer clothes... black men gotta pay that chsupp and stay broke. Stop saying black people start saying black women.

We had black owned stores that I use to get all of my clothes from until they started only selling shirts that came down to your knees then I quit fucking with them. Years later we found out those black owned stores were owned by white people that hired a black person to pretend like he owned the store.

they're a client and sent me a bunch of free shit, the tees this season are actually pretty dope. i get lots of compliments on them that i don't think i would get if the name wasn't as small or nonexistent as it is in these new designs. that says a lot right there, but that's another convo.

i have been screwed by both and had EXCELLENT service experiences with my own people as well as white and brown folk.

every time you fuck with someone new, you're takin a chance. i just reward great service with repeat business and referrals.

damn the implications in here, i've had some horrible experience with unscrupulous white folks.

Believe it or not I do business with a lot of West Africans and never had a problem. Most AA businesses I deal with seems to be desperate and out of touch. I once went into this black owned computer store and they tried to sell me a single core laptop for $400 :smh: Best Buy had quad cores for less.

Whom Do Black-Owned Banks Serve?

Whom Do Black-Owned Banks Serve?

Summer 2014 Issue

PDF version of this article

by Russell D. Kashian, Richard McGregory, and Derrek Grunfelder McCrank, University of Wisconsin, Whitewater
Summer 2014
Black-owned banks are vital sources of capital, employment, and training in low-income areas. They provide institutional leadership and jobs with career ladders to communities.

Much attention has been paid to the overall banking industry in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis but not much to black-owned banks (BOBs). What has been their approach to banking since 2008? What has been their role in communities?

Past literature focused on minority-owned banks' efficiency relative to other banks, with some authors finding insignificant differences, and others suggesting nonminority-owned banks were more efficient.[1] Later work showed that minority-owned banks, BOBs in particular, paid higher interest rates on certificates of deposit (CDs) than nonminority-owned banks—using CD rate premiums to help insulate customers from the effects of the recession.[2]

That is part of a pattern in which BOBs have been known to serve their neighborhoods as sources of credit and other support.[3]

Black-Owned Banks Since 2008
To learn more about BOBs after the Great Recession and their role in communities, researchers at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, looked at bank data from 2000 and 2011. The list of BOBs and the zip codes for their main and branch offices in 2000 and 2011 come from Federal Reserve quarterly reports and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) list of Minority Depository Institutions.[4] The FDIC also provided annual branch deposit data, which the research team measured as a percentage of all bank deposits within each zip code on June 30, 2000, and June 2011.[5]

Race/ethnicity and poverty estimates were drawn from the Integrated Public Use Microdata Series (IPUMS), which was generated as part of Census 2000, and from 2009–2011 American Community Survey (ACS) data. Together the data provided a poverty indicator measured as a percentage of the official poverty level. (See "Characteristics of Black-Owned Banks.")

A comparison of 2011 and 2000 figures points to a general market trend toward bank consolidation. Although the number of BOBs declined from 51 to 33 (35.3 percent), the number of branches decreased only slightly (from 163 to 159, or 2.5 percent), and the number of unique Zip Codes served expanded (from 142 to 150, or 5.6 percent), suggesting that a smaller number of BOBs may have been capable of serving a larger number of customers. Growth in average deposits was dramatic: more than $10 million (40.9 percent) per office and slightly less than $180 million (159.8 percent) per bank.

To answer your question I'll say the same thing they said in Hidden Colors 3. I'll buy more black product when more black vendors start selling more higher quality shit! When they stop trying to overcharge their own people for low-end crap. We're the only race who does that bullshit to each other on a larger scale.

Sell me quality products at a fair price and I'll buy from more black vendors.

Good day, sir!

Black people only like making entertainers and preachers rich.

Plus we accept fuckery from cacs but hold black businesses to a higher standard. Too many black businesses try to get rich one customer at a time. They don't invest in customer satisfaction and retention. So they over promise under deliver and over charge.

So dam which one is it... First you say "We hold black business to a higher standard", then you go on with three reasons why we don't deal with black business?:confused:

I think we Need local black tv channels. Rebuild our culture upon that.
Advertistments. Educational shows, Black history, shows of that sort.

I say that cause I get hit with alot of bad black businessmen and I met alot of scammers. I deep in my heart wanted to help theze brothers but they was thinking of the short gains. If we have an group of honorable blacks men to inspect and promote theze businesses. I would feel more secure on shopping black.

Wen it comes to food. I seem to only shop from black owned businesses

I know a few people who do everything they can to buy black. Treat black people like they're whites. The whole 9. I see the usual excuses.

"this 1 guy did this 1 thing so i don't deal with NO black businesses now."
"i got asked for a discount and they didn't give it to me...fuck black business"

Bullshit.

What's the point?

We need to continue to discuss this issue, the good, bad and ugly.

isn't the OP doglife/house101/mit_dropout?

Wrong.

Good point Rock. But how do we dig ourselves out of that situation? We can't stay crawling forever. Wouldn't you agree?
