So exactly what is your definition of a good single father & mother

I want to know. Men seem to have a thin line for being a good father and a bad father.

I want to know what's your def.

I shouldn't answer, but it's still a good question.

When I date a single mother my first question is "what's up with the father(s)?"

If he's remarried or living in a different city then everything's cool so long as he keeps the child support up. Especially if y'all have been broke up for a while.

Red flags include fathers who died of foul play, fathers in jail, fathers who live down the block, fathers with restraining orders against them, multiple fathers or unknown fathers.

Deal breakers include stalkers, exes who stay overnight, and exes hitting you up for money.

Other questions include how well do you take care of your kids? Are they bathed and well groomed? do they wear clean clothes and eat decent food? I'm not expecting June Cleaver, but these things are basic.

From a dating perspective, it's also important that a single mom still be able to separate personal time from family time. That means no midnight breast feedings in the middle of a date and no getting drunk in front of your seeds.

the kind that refrain from dating until their kids are old enough to not need them so much.

has nothing to do with being single, married, or in a long-term committed relationship. Also doesn't matter if you are a mother or father. Either you're a good parent or a bad parent.

Good parents: show their children affection, read to them and teach them, show them right and wrong through words and behavior, encourage them to do well in school, do not spoil them with gifts/money/excess, bring them up with values (religious or morals), teach them to respect themselves and others, teach them good hygiene, teach them the value of money and hard work... really basic stuff that a lot of people skip when raising their kids and we all have to suffer for it :dunno:

I mean what if you do all that and your child is still bad as hell and is smoking having sex with older men, sneaking out, hanging out with the wrong crowd, getting women preggers...
