Snoop goes "off script" and rants on just how fucked up streaming is - why a billion streams doesn’t equal a million dollars!!

He broke numbers as to what steaming platforms pay the most per stream or per 1000 streams. Tidal at the time laid the most but had a black face as the owner.
that was 8 years ago tho right? Also I think snoop is talking about simplifying the system of it. The math aint mathin' and he's not the only one noticing that.

Thing i dont like about the AI artist is simple. Lyrics. I dont GAF how much you SOUND like someone, if you dont have the actual BARS that the artist had then it kills the whole vibe for me.

I seen Timbaland on IG the other day talkin bout he never got to work with BIG but started playing a beat and then had AI biggie lyrics in the back. Flow sounds nice but when I was listening to what the AI biggie was rappin about, it lost me.

Snoop too old to be on that hood shit in that forum. That nigga been in the game too damn long to not be able to articulate himself better.

And ain't you got a damn record label now and don't know shit about streaming? C'mon with this ignorant nigga shit.

And I'm on his side fa sho.

AI Biggie never sold drugs to support his kids or grew up in the hood.... he don't got that feel

.

But just watch.....in the coming years...they will throw a hologram concert and use the AI voice to interact with the audience as if that artist is actually looking out into the crowd. So expect a MJ, Prince, Pac, Whitney, Elvis, etc concert. But the very first one will be the make or break for the rest. If it pops then they gonna drop one after another but if that ish flops then its a wrap. Haha

I like your seed idea but, fake appearances by living artists. Now that is gonna fuck up the game. Touring will never be the same. Who collects the revenue from that if they got you in a 360? Welcome to the metaverse. Hell they won't need living humans in a few years. Omfg... stream of consciousness this is actually scaring the fuck out of me. The implications

Without content those are both mute.
Then the artists can make their own platform and see how easy it is. Spotify isn't even profitable yet which is why they are trying to get into podcasts and other shit, because just streaming music is not cutting it.

Its not up to them to simplify the system just like it wasn't up to labels for you to read your contract. All he has to do is research and read.

Either he smoked too much or didn’t smoke enough weed! :roflmao:

Explaining new technology to Snoop
Is like trying to explain it to your grandparents

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
but that the thing they make up the rules and algorithm as they go along. Who determines that a million streams is a fraction of a fraction of penny? You got streaming companies thats never divulged how they came to the views numbers they claim. Consider that what research can he do that brings him up to speed and makes sense when the people controlling can literally make the rules as they go.

LucasFilm Tells Darth Vader that Return of the Jedi Hasn’t Made a Profit!?

“I get these occasional letters from Lucasfilm saying that we regret to inform you that as Return of the Jedi has never gone into profit, we’ve got nothing to send you. Now here we’re talking about one of the biggest releases of all time,” said Prowse. “I don’t want to look like I’m bitching about it,” he said, “but on the other hand, if there’s a pot of gold somewhere that I ought to be having a share of, I would like to see it.”

Of course, Return of the Jedi has grossed over $572 million worldwide, which includes an estimated $88 million when the film was re-released in 1997. So how is it possible that the film has yet to make a profit? Prowse really can’t be serious, can he?

TimesOnline contacted LucasFilm about the story but the company declined to comment as a matter of policy. In the interview, Prowse warns young actors to know exactly what kind of contracts they are signing:

“There is a big difference between having a share of the gross profit and having a share of the net profit. It is a huge difference in just one word. Sometimes, with net profit, with all the expenses and so on, it seems like you end up paying them.”

and thats not just him....carrie fisher, mark hamill, harrison ford, billy dee williams none of them is getting royalties from those movies. and haven't been for decades.

Ed Brubaker gets more residuals from his WINTER SOLDIER cameo than from creating the character

Captain America writer and Winter Soldier co-creator Ed Brubaker expressed “mixed feelings” over The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Disney+ series, and over Marvel and Disney’s treatment of the creators behind their cash cows. On Monday night, Brubaker appeared on the Fatman Beyond podcast hosted by Kevin Smith and Marc Bernardin where he spoke in greater detail about his dissatisfaction.

Brubaker mentions turning down a check for a “Thank You” credit in Captain America: Civil War because he found the tiny amount to be such an insult. To add insult to injury, Brubaker apparently had to attend the premiere in the overflow theater as opposed to the main big theater with the big stars. Since the basic premise of the B-plot for Civil War involving Bucky hunting down rogue agents of the Winter Soldier program was based on his Captain America comics run, Brubaker’s indignation is understandable.

Brubaker exposed a common issue at Marvel: Work-for-hire comic book writers and artists don’t get compensated for creating characters and storylines now propelling the MCU on film and television. Marvel owns the Winter Solider, not Brubaker, so the studio doesn’t have to pay the writer for using the character in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” or any Marvel Cinematic Universe property.

Sources also told The Guardian that “remuneration for contributing to a franchise that hits it big varies between the $5,000 payment, nothing, or — very rarely — a ‘special character contract,’ which allows a select few creators to claim renumeration when their characters or stories are used. There are other potential ways to earn more — many former writers and artists are made executives and producers on Marvel’s myriad movies, cartoons and streaming series, for example — but those deals depend on factors other than legal obligation.”

sounds to me like if you wanna get a producer position in the company then those "factors" include

I know platform's like Spotify pays $0.0033 per stream. Unless u are independent.....this money goes to the label....not the artist. The artist gets paid after the label gets their cut.
So even if a song had a million streams....that would only equate to $3,300.
U would need to have one billion streams to get $3 million.

And after the label gets their cut....and gets paid back whatever advance they gave u.....then u get what's left.

The more streaming platforms u can put your music on....the better.

So Snoop supposedly now owns Death Row Records and yet doesn't understand streaming?

In this day and age if you don't understand streaming and how it generates income for both the company and it's artist should you really be the head of that company?

Then the artists can make their own platform and see how easy it is. Spotify isn't even profitable yet which is why they are trying to get into podcasts and other shit, because just streaming music is not cutting it.
MTV discovered that about 2 years after going on the air in 1983.. :giggle: 24 hour music is not a sustainable business model at all. MTV stopped being Music Television by 1986. And today I dont even think this generation can tell you what the letters MTV even stands for.

Someone's getting paid from the streaming and the artist need to band together and sue em and figure out away to take all of their music off of the net which will be hard to do but it can be done;Shiiiit AI might be able to,"AI track all of my streaming content"

Nah, don't be surprised if do an AI/hologram Elvis at Graceland memorial concert to get it started.

Then it'll be Bob Marley at ReggaeFest, MJ at O2 arena, etc.

This is why these artists are selling their rights, they see the future coming of them not having to perform anymore....the hologram/A.I. will do it. The conglomerates already gave them the 15 year spiel & it's either get down & cash out now or lay down & lose it all to the wave of change the companies will institute.

And the record labels get a double boost by not only owning the music, but the very sound & image of the artist....forever!

I think that's the issue and part of Snoop's understanding.

Back in the day let's say a single was 99 cents.

Even to purchase a single on iTunes from what I remember yeas ago was 99 cents. I know that streaming isn't purchasing but from his perspective, a million listens shouldn't equal $0.0033 per stream or $3,300.

But it's how strand are now equated and paid.

What you are missing about snoop is that he is GENUINE and is allowed to be authentic!!!! At the MIlken Conference:oops:.

Who else in America is genuine, authentic, respected, loved, ghetto and gangsta like snoop?

Not Jay. Not Dre. Not Drake. They are all kinda sanitized. NOT SNOOP. Even his language is real street. And they accept him for it. Think about it...

we already saw early versions with Tupac and Gorillaz on what hologram tech can do its only gotten better since. Once the tech becomes stable and manageable and the audience BUYS into it..the gloves will come off and we will be living in the Blade Runner future..

don't mistake being amused for being accepted.

They don't have a union

and record labels negotiate for themselves and not the artist....the artist get whatever they give

Snoop is far too old and experience to be this ignorant. Nip broke it down about 8 years ago.

He broke numbers as to what steaming platforms pay the most per stream or per 1000 streams. Tidal at the time laid the most but had a black face as the owner.

You didn't get what he was saying, and what he's saying has nothing to do with what Nipsey said.

now before you respond....WHOSE SIDE ARE YOU TAKING?? Corporate or the Artist??

Snoop is a National Treasure. He broke it down on the streaming. Streaming is just a way the big wigs found to screw the artist.
Streaming should be just like the old days.

An album should have 1 or 2 songs on the streaming platform (similar to radio}. If you want to listen to the rest of the album, you should pay.
Then the entire Album will be released on the platform to you. Let the Artist make some money.

JMHO
