just buy replacement blades..they're about $20 from the beauty supply...i use an old toothbrush to clean the clippers during my shaves and it helps get the hairs out to give you a sharper edge per cut

Every year I take my Andis clippers to a local store that sells clippers and accessories. They take everything apart, sharpen the blades, clean the insides (a shit load of hair gets backed up inside the casing), re-oil, and re-align. for only $15.00.

Look for a local store in your area and get it professionally cleaned.

my brother in law took mine to some shop in jamaica queens. When I got them back they were like 10 times sharper than my barbers clippers. They weren't new blades either. I guess he sharpened them but I dont even know the spot, and my brother in law moved away.

Yea, i usually take it apart and clean it myself about once every 3 months or so, but I when I get it sharpened every year, they do a thorough cleaning. I never tried that blade care stuff though. I'm gonna try it.

all u do is turn on the razor and dip it in the solution for 10 secs, real easy

damn how sharp do you want them? i have the andis t-line and i adjusted them so the top and bottom blade are even and it felt like my skin was coming off.:lol:

the bottom metal part suppose to be a little bit higher than the blade

the bottom metal part is suppose to be a little bit over the blade or that shit gonna cut u up

Here's the trick, When you take off the blades the one that has the two screws in them can be adjusted. Just loosen the screws and adjust that middle plastic part up or down then tighten them back up. It's best to put the other blade on and then line the blades up because you dont want those shytz to overlap or it will cut your shyt up. I usually use a mirror to press the blades down on because the surface is even. Once you do this your blades will be sharp as hell. My barber taught me that shyt, Dont ever have to buy new blades.

Thats what he's doin at the 5:09 mark in the video.......thats all you have to do is adjust the guide.

:yes: this is a good thread.

if anyone got a vid tutorial with how to give yourself a tape besides that one vid with that cat on youtube post it

im a pet groomer by trade so I have to deal with this issue alot. pet grooming blades are far more expensive than normal blades (depending on the materials theyre made out of and what gauge.) pet grooming blades will run you anywhere between 20 and 300 dollars so i just get mine sharpened by someone. with personal clipper blades its not necessary to buy new blades, but in all honesty its the easiest solution. the sander that professional sharpeners use to sharpen blades cost ALOT of money and if you dont know what youre doing then you can ruin the blades by either sharpening them unevenly (which in turn will break your clippers after prolonged use.) or breaking teeth out of them. if you search the yellow pages im sure that youll find someone in your area that will do it for you for about 4-6 dollars, but new blades are like 15-25 bucks so it depends on what youre willing to spend at that moment.

I'm kind of stuck btwn a rock and a hard place, it takes forever for me to adjust my blades perfect and I finally have it there, but I left the damn clippers on the bench in my bathroom and now there are rust spots on it :smh: i normally just buy new blades, I guess I'll just bite the bullet and do that :(

Thanks...that's brilliant. I do almost the same thing but I never thought to leave the blade on like that and turn the clippers on.

It works like a charm.

get new ones. sharpening the same blade often+heat+friction...just makes the metal thinner = easier to break

Its this store on Jamaica Ave [forgot the name and between what streets, easy to find tho]. The spot where I got my 1st pair of T-Liners, that sells and sharpens the blades, my barber put me on.

Thanks for the video, but........

$50.00 :lol::lol::lol:

Go to any hardware store and get a sharpening stone for around $6.00 or a combination stone for about $11.00
