Seattle cop helps woman deliver baby after pulling over speeding husband: ‘The baby is coming out!’
Seattle cops pulled over Abdul Abdashiek (l.) for speeding, and then helped his pregnant wife deliver their new daughter.
A Seattle cop expecting to deliver a ticket to a reckless driver delivered his wife’s baby instead.
Baby girl Hadaya was born early Sunday inside her parents’ car just after an officer pulled over the speeding driver: her dad.
Officer Anthony Reynolds flagged down the car about 3:45 a.m. after he spotted it running through red lights, Seattle Police said in a statement.
As Reynolds approached, driver Abdul Abdashiek jumped out and explained that he was speeding because his pregnant wife was about to have their fourth child.
"She's in labor, man!" Abdashiek yelled, according to the cop’s dashboard camera.
“Oh my god, the baby is coming!” Yusuf screamed in the video. “The baby is coming out!”
Before the ambulance could arrive, the couple’s girl was born, police said. Reynolds and Yusuf cleared the newborn’s airway as they waited for backup officers and medical help.
“The couple’s baby was determined to beat medics to the scene,” police said in the statement.
When paramedics eventually arrived, they took mom and baby to the hospital. Both are doing well.
Yusuf and Abdashiek named their new girl Hadaya, which means “gift” in Arabic, KOMO news reported.
The couple wrote Reynolds a thank you note after the roadside birth.
“You have helped deliver a precious gift,” they wrote. “We are so grateful.”
