NO OTHER COACH, MALE OR FEMALE IN THIS COUNTRY HAD THE STONES TO DO THIS!

(CNN)The South Carolina Gamecocks women's basketball team has canceled its home-and-home series with the Brigham Young University (BYU) Cougars following the racial incident involving Duke volleyball player Rachel Richardson at a BYU game last week, Dawn Staley, head coach for the defending national champions said on Friday.
"As a head coach, my job is to do what's best for my players and staff," Staley said in a statement. "The incident at BYU has led me to reevaluate our home-and-home, and I don't feel that this is the right time for us to engage in this series."

Props… let’s see if the men’s FB and BB coaches will do the same. Most likely, but not hardly.

Makes me wonder. Not mad at Coach Dawn and support her decision. I wonder about what her experiences have been with BYU and UTAH. It makes more sense to me if SC’s vball team did this but a bball game in SC, makes me wonder what she thinks about the BYU fans or supporters that would show up, or the BYU coaching staff too.

Now the question is: will any other schools on BYU's schedule join her? If a couple more cancellations come because of this, you better believe that BYU coach is gonna be forced to make changes or resign.

As always, they will never do right out of a sense of morality. When the money is in jeopardy, surface changes will come, and that's sadly the most we can expect. At a RELIGIOUS institution.

You can't legislate the heart.

Why does this have to be a men vs women issue?

If any mens football coach did this, he would be throwing his career on the garbage to stop racism. Are you willing to throw a career you worked decades away for racism?

Props to her for doing so, but I don’t criticize those who don’t have her courage.

How so? She's the singlemost winningest/most accomplished coach in that entire state. She got more pull than Spurrier wish he'd ever had.

Because it's the State of South Carolina.

And you are smoking something if you think she has more power than Spurrier.

Sounds like she has the support of the school too? That’s cool.
She is a GOD in Columbia. Like I can't make this shit up....The woman can do No Wrong!

The amount of money she has brought to the school and the city, even though she is the highest paid female coach, it's still not enough....This is another reason why she can do whatever the hell she wants to do...

Shout out to Ray Tanner...Gave Dawn and Coach Paris an opportunity...

She's a Multiple gold medal(player & coach) and National championship coach. She damn well better have pull.

Oh I agree. I met her back in the day when I was a HS senior and she was coming off the Olympics. And yes I tried to shoot my shot but it wasn't happening lol.

It wouldn't surprise me if someone is in her ear about politics one day. I wish her all the success in whatever she does, just never thought I would see real change in my home state.

:lol:Well I must be on that ouweeeeeeeeeeeeeee then :guitar01:

Spurrier didn't accomplish a damn thing at South Carolina. Why would the University back him over her and she's the future? Pardon me, let me take one more puff before I'm out....

Figured you would say that.

I was referring to when he came in/first got hired.

He had carte blanche and unprecedented fanfare as a part time employee. Set his own terms. Got paid to golf.

But whatever

Yeah but remember money trumphs everything. She is the reason why the girl's games are literally sold out the past few years....She is the reason why the city of Columbia was able to be a host city for March Madness.....She is a reason why so many hotels are being built downtown.....

She owns Columbia....Hell when Aja Wilson signed her contract with the Vegas team, the president of the Las Vegas team, Nikki, was straight up in Columbia chilling...

Remember, Columbia is not like all the other cities in SC....Hell Trump got less than 10% of the votes when he ran....Biden had like 90%....Very progressive compared to the out skirts....

Even if they did, very few have the clout of Staley. When you perform you can make decisions like that.

Where we at? America! This country is only about the money.

let's be honest, most of the coaches ain't got the power to cancel games. I'm pretty sure the higher ups decided it was okay for the coach to do this.

I applaud her actions but there seems to be more to the volleyball story. Apparently, there are discrepancies in the accounts. Not that I don't know Utah is full of racist motherfuckers.

Supposedly, the person banned wasn't the one who was starting shit. People were claiming no one said the N-word, but didn't confirm or deny that NO RACIAL shit was said. Still doesn't explain why security had to sit by them for the rest of the game. Crickets when it came to the accusations of threats.

If true, I was wondering if the person who was starting shit was someone important or related to someone important.

This is my issue, you place your career over how you and others like you are treated for a check?

Absolutely you should put your career on the line and stand up especially as a black person.

Look at how brainwashed you are. That tells me you'd shut up and stand for any bullshit that'll come your way in a work environment.

Well, it is Utah. But something doesn't add up. They put security but as I understand it that's SOP. What really puzzles me is how none of her teammates said or did anything. IIRC it was her father who made the accusations.

It's unimaginable. That she has that much pull in SC. That is like Head coach of Alabama Football type pull.

Basketball Hall of Famer
3 x Olympic Gold Medalist
6 x WNBA All Star
3 x Collegiate All American
2 x National Player of the Year
2 x NCAA National Champion Coach

Her resume is serious. I'm not surprised by the move. North Philly jawns don't fuck around
