Today is a big day for Sarah Palin. She is in Iowa to endorse Donald Trump, which will shore up Trump’s standing with Real Americans and once again give the Palin family a moment in the national spotlight. But things back home aren’t as rosy: Last night, Palin’s son, Track, was charged in Wasilla on domestic violence and weapons charges.

Per online court records, Track Palin, 26, was charged yesterday with assault in the fourth degree (domestic violence), interfering with a report of domestic violence, and possession of a weapon while intoxicated. All three charges are misdemeanors. Here’s a screenshot of the charges as they appear online. Spokespersons with both the Wasilla Police Department and the district attorney’s office confirmed their existence:

Palin is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. locally (5 p.m. Eastern). According to Bennett, his office may release the affidavit regarding the incident upon the arraignment’s conclusion. If and when we receive that report, we will update this post.

UPDATE (5:15 p.m.) The Wasilla PD issued the following press release regarding the incident:

On 01/18/2016 at approximately 2204 hours, Wasilla Police responded to a residence for a disturbance. An investigation revealed Track Palin had committed a domestic violence assault on a female, interfered with her ability to report a crime of domestic violence, and possessed a firearm while intoxicated. Palin was arrested and charges of assault in the fourth degree (domestic violence), interfering with a domestic violence report, and misconduct involving weapons in the fourth degree were forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office. Palin was held without bail until arraignment.

Sarah Palin Endorses Donald Trump, Rallying Conservatives
http://www.nytimes.com/2016/01/20/us/politics/donald-trump-sarah-palin.html

Sarah Palin, the former Alaska governor and 2008 vice-presidential nominee who became a Tea Party sensation and a favorite of grass-roots conservatives, will endorse Donald J. Trump in Iowa on Tuesday, officials with his campaign confirmed. The endorsement provides Mr. Trump with a potentially significant boost just 13 days before the state’s caucuses.

“I’m proud to endorse Donald J. Trump for president,” Ms. Palin said in a statement provided by his campaign.

Her support is the highest-profile backing for a Republican contender so far.

“I am greatly honored to receive Sarah’s endorsement,” Mr. Trump said in a statement trumpeting Mrs. Palin’s decision. “She is a friend, and a high-quality person whom I have great respect for. I am proud to have her support.”

In Iowa, where Ms. Palin spent years developing support, the endorsement could be especially helpful.

Other conservatives said that Ms. Palin serves as a particularly effective shield against Senator Ted Cruz, who is battling Mr. Trump for the lead in Iowa polls by courting the state’s evangelical voters.

“Palin’s brand among evangelicals is as gold as the faucets in Trump tower,” said Ralph Reed, the chairman of the Faith and Freedom Coalition.

“Endorsements alone don’t guarantee victory, but Palin’s embrace of Trump may turn the fight over the evangelical vote into a war for the soul of the party,” he said.

Mrs. Palin, who is to appear alongside Mr. Trump at a rally on the Iowa State University campus in Ames late Tuesday afternoon, could amplify the news media-circus aspects of Mr. Trump’s candidacy: Like him, she is a reality-TV star accustomed to playing to the cameras and often accused of emphasizing flash over substance.

What’s more, while Mr. Trump has already shown the ability to garner wall-to-wall cable-news coverage, Mrs. Palin’s active involvement in his campaign could help him deprive Mr. Cruz of vital attention in the homestretch to the Feb. 1 caucuses.

At this point this race is for the Dems to lose.
knowing how the republicans have done other viable candidates dirty in the past, i dont know how Trump could get the nomination.

but if he does...and i really REALLY hope he does...it would be catastrophic for the GOP. their money machine WILL NOT support him, you would see amazing backlash down the party line and a fragmented national election effort. he is a buffoon in politics, and it would eventually if not automatically discover itself as his election staff melts down under scrutiny. this kind of shit storm would destroy any hope of a republican president for another 20 years.

family full reality show wanna be's. repubs so fucked.....lol. 13 days to voting and the best endorsement to come out is sarah fucking palin. they clapping and smiling but you know they cringing on the inside

Police Report: Track Palin Punched Girlfriend in the Face and Threatened Suicide

Track Palin—the 26-year-old son of Sarah Palin, who today endorsed Donald Trump for president—was arrested last night, and court documents obtained by Gawker reveal more details about the bloody and frantic altercation.

According to a police report written by Officer Andrew Kappler—and first reported by the AP and KTVA in Alaska—Wasilla police were dispatched to a home owned by Sarah and Todd Palin after receiving a 911 call from a woman who said that she had been punched in the face by a male who was also in possession of a gun. 911 dispatch also received a call from Track Palin, informing them that the woman who had previously called them was drunk.

Kappler writes that upon arriving at the home he found Palin outside talking on his phone with a “visible injury” to his right eye. He also observed that Palin’s eyes were bloodshot and that his breath smelled like alcohol, and writes that Palin was “uncooperative, belligerent and evasive.” Because of Palin’s “escalating hostility” and the “unknown whereabouts” of the victim, Kappler placed Palin under arrest.

Soon after Palin was handcuffed, other officers on the scene located the victim, who is identified in the report as Palin’s girlfriend. She was found “hiding and crying underneath a bed inside the residence” and told police that earlier in the night Palin had struck her near the eye with a closed fist and then held a rifle to his head threatening suicide (the victim’s last name has been redacted):

She and her boyfriend of one year, Track Palin, left a different residence together and were arguing the whole way home. Once they got to his home they argued in the car, then in the driveway . They were screaming and he was calling her names. [Redacted] told Palin that she had called the cops even though she had not, in attempt to calm him down and to scare him away from “touching her”. Palin approached [Redacted] and struck her on the left side of her head near her eye with a closed fist. [Redacted] got on the ground in a fetal position because she didn’t know what else he would do. Palin then kicked [redacted] on the right knee. [Redacted]’s phone was sitting on the ground in front of her. Palin took her phone and threw it across the driveway. She retrieved the phone and went inside the house. Palin was already inside and holding onto a gun, yelling “do you think I’m a pussy?” and “do you think I won’t do it?” [Redacted] stated Palin “cocked the gun” and was holding the rifle out next to him with the his right hand near the trigger and his left hand near the barrel, with the barrel just away from his face pointed to the side. [Redacted] was concerned that he would shoot himself and ran outside and around the house. She didn’t see where Palin went, so she went inside and up the stairs, where she hid under a bed. Shortly after, she heard Palin walking around inside looking for her. Palin left after not locating her.

Kappler writes that another officer noted injuries to the victim’s face and knee as well as the presence of an unloaded AR-15:

Sergeant Rader observed [redacted] to have bruising and swelling around her left eye. She complained of pain to that area as well as to her right knee. He observed a small red area near her knee. The involved firearm, an unloaded AR-15 rifle was located on the kitchen counter.

According to court records, Palin posted $1,500 bail and is due in court on Feb. 19. The full police report is below. Further documents can be read here.

Sarah Palin Says Her Son Was Arrested Because Obama Doesn't Care About Veterans

Today at a Donald Trump rally in Oklahoma, Sarah Palin addressed what she called “the elephant in the room”: her son Track’s particularly ill-timed arrest on domestic violence and weapons charges, which she blamed on alleged negligence of veterans on the part of Barack Obama:

My son, like so many others—they come back a bit different. They come back hardened. They come back wondering if there is that respect for what it is that their fellow soldiers and airmen and every other member of the military so sacrificially have given to this country. And that starts from the top. It’s a shame that our military personnel even have to wonder, if they have to question if they are respected anymore.

She continued: “That comes from our own president. Where they have to look at him and wonder, ‘Do you know what we go through? Do you know what we’re trying to do to secure America?’”

Is it too soon for Palin to use her son’s ongoing troubles as a talking point in a stump speech? Bear in mind that the ex-governor of Alaska is a leading voice on the subject of veterans and their health. Of Bowe Bergdahl she wrote (emphasis mine):

When President Obama traded one deserter for five evil terrorists hell-bent on destroying America, rational people did not believe the Obama administration’s claims about this traitor’s “health crisis,” or claims that he served “with honor and distinction,” and certainly not President Obama’s claim that this was a good deal for America.

After putting the country in danger, President Obama celebrated Bergdahl in our Rose Garden, arm in arm with his smiling father greeting Americans in Arabic and Pashtu, as our loyal troops cringed. In fact, in the days that followed, the Obama administration actually smeared the vets who came forward to tell the truth about Bergdahl’s traitorous desertion.

Now finally public disclosure tells the truth – that Bergdahl is a deserter. In my book, he is a traitor.

The troops must be respected.
