The Instagram sensation known as "Salt Bae" — Turkish chef Nusret Gökçe, who owns the Nusr-Et Steakhouse restaurants in Istanbul and Dubai — is reportedly opening a third location in New York City at the former site of Midtown's China Grill.
Per an Eater report, the Chinese restaurant closed its doors after 29 years in the CBS building at 60 W. 53rd St. at Sixth Avenue. (China Grill denied reports in January that Gökçe was moving into the space, according to Eater.)
It makes way for the vision of Gökçe, a man-turned-meme who mesmerized the Internet in January with not only his distinctive salt sprinkling and sensual steak handling, but his typical uniform: white V-neck T-shirt, black vest, dark shades and ponytail.
Gökçe's Instagram account is truly NSFW food porn: the erotic way in which he slaps a slab of meat with his knife, slides the bones out of a rib rack, and pumps his hips while slicing an assortment of meat.
In his own mind, the chef appears to visualize himself as the Godfather of grilled meats:
