Run DMC Ain't Want that SMOKE

Maaaaan fuck moe dee. I used to work with his twin brother for years before I realized who his brother was..... I found out after a conversation we were having about health care. Turns out my mother was his moms nurse @ the nursing home she worked at.

After that..... everytime I saw him id rap "to the break of dawn" ro him like he was his brother

What is a panther? A animal that kills
I'm like a shark with blood comin' out the gills
You could never in your wildest dreams
Get a piece of this gangsta, lean, straight from Queens
Strong as liquor, to be seen in a limousine
Now you're gettin' done without Vaseline
Wouldn't bite because your rhymes are puppy chow
Made another million, so competitors bow
Homeboy, hold on, my rhymes are so strong
Nothing could go wrong, so why do you prolong?
Songs that ain't strong, brother, you're dead wrong
And got the nerve to have them Star Trek shades on
Ha, you can't handle the whole weight
Skin needs lotion, teeth need Colgate
Wise up you little burnt-up french fry
I'm that type of guy
And I slammed you know, just like a sumo
Put him in pampers, leave my drawers in his hamper
When I'm through, you need a brand-new identity
I was scoopin' girls before you lost your virginity
Your jam is just a dreamin' MC scheme
gettin' crushed by a L.L. theme
How dare you stand beside me

Man, LL smoked Kool Moe D. This shit still hard as hell to this day.

I Need Love was before the battle homie. I'm Bad was the single to the follow up album. Moe D came with that How You Like Me Now shit. Why did Moe D feel the need to other that milking the shine that LL gave him. We did really know who Moe D was in the midwest until the battle. The LL beef put him on. LL was already selling 2 million a pop. Def Jam has running shit.

Fuuuuuk outta here!!!! LL somked moe dee!!!

The ONLY niggaah LL was shook to battle was Kool Keith aka Dr. OCTAGON, aka Papa Large aka.......

You niggaahz, still smoking crack rocks & its about to be 2019!!! :(:smh:

Russell Simmons didn’t want LL to accept Moe Dee’s battle challenge. They went back and forth on record but LL never accepted the live stage show challenge. LL caught that L on that one.

What all these guys said.

And LL ended the battle for good with his 1st verse from "I Shot Ya":

What the fuck, I thought I conquered the world.
Crushed Moe Dee, Hammer & Ice-T's curl
But still, niggas wanna instigate shit
I battle any nigga in the rap game quick

Moe Dee ain't said shit since...wonder why?

Let’s Go dropped 1989, I shot ya was 1995. 6 years later that beef was stale and it still bugged LL. Ice T had dissed him and he had other things going on. Moe Dee was just that thorn in his side he couldn’t get rid of. LL the MC wanted the battle but his handlers knew he would get smoked.

Run would smoked Moe D lol
Moe D woulda burned Run in those days.
Regardless, I still think that it was just a fake "battle" to try to boost the popularity of Graffiti Rock for viewership. The fact that the show had everything we could want, (NYC Breakers, Run-DMC, Kool Moe Dee, Hip Hop music, etc) but still failed says a lot, right?
You HAVE to believe that the producers knew that their pilot would have to break records just to exist on tv afterwards. The resistance to Hip Hop in the mainstream was still strong af at that time.

M just a blind Run fan lol

Moe Dee was like KRS back in the day. He had a battle rap for every rapper that was blowing up. Remember, he got his "fame" for killing Busy Bee, and Busy said he never saw that shit coming. He said Moe went in on him, and he was like :eek2:.

"SHUT UP!!!! SHUT UP!!!!"

:roflmao:

Out of all the misinformation in this thread, this is the realness. If you wasn't around NYC at the time you're just going off second and third-hand info. First of all, Run-DMC weren't battle rappers, they were cross-over, mainstream rappers because at the time rap was mostly still a novelty. Lots of people thought it was just a fad that would be gone in a year; two tops. Secondly, LL, while not purely a battle rapper wasn't scared to take on anybody. He knew he'd probably lose to Kool Keith but he didn't mind too much because he had higher aspirations; as we now see. Moe D made a business decision after his original group broke up. He made a decision that several rappers made and that was to have these "battles." Most of them were manufactured anyway. NOBODY wanted anything to do with Kool Keith; his style was so unique he was in his own universe.

It's funny how everybody going at MC Hammer reminded me of how people were going at RunDMC. I've always felt that both situations were based on jealousy.

"I am you, but you ain't me, because you didn't start rocking 'til '83." - Melle Mel

"They come from the slums, they're nothing but bums.
They walk down the street thinkin' they're number one singing "'Dum ditty dum ditty ditty dum dum'." - Busy Bee

"Using simple back & forth a same old rhythm that a baby can pick up and join right with 'em,
But their rhymes are pathetic, they think they're copacetic, using nursery terms, at least not poetic." - Kool Kieth

I agree. MC Hammer, LL, Run-DMC and maybe a couple of other rappers were quickly thrown into the "sellout" category because their work was embraced by mainstream media and audiences. The "hardcore" community who didn't benefit (read: get paid) felt they laid the groundwork and should be recognized etc etc but hey, as you know, the music business is a business first and nobody can predict who will pop and who won't. Especially in those days.

I might disagree with you including Kool Keith tho. That cat is so weird who knows who he was talking about.

He dropped that line after "Peter Piper" came out.

Yep, he sure did but he could have been talking about a dozen rappers. Most rappers at that time were doing the simple A-B-B-A rhyme scheme. Keith and Ced blew everybody's mind with their internal rhyme schemes. Anyway, I've never heard him or anyone reference that line as being directed toward Run-DMC. Not saying ur wrong, I've just never heard it.

I totally see what you're saying, but here's what made me think that was aimed at RunDMC: On that same album, Run says that his rhymes are "copacetic", so that's what made me feel that way.

Gotcha. But IIRC that was a "hot" word at the time like 'vicious' and a couple of other words. Damn near every rap record had those words in them. I know it was a hot word in the streets at one time. Was it around that time? I don't remember. Those days are kinda, uh...foggy.

Ultra Mag had visuals. They came at Kool Moe Dee, Slick Rick, and LL Cool J in this video.
