One of the apartment complexes in Detroit involved in the case against Traylor.

DETROIT – A big woman once lived in this small house on the city's tough west side. Jessie Mae Carter – all 6-foot-3, 270 pounds of her – was best known for her oversized traits: her frame, her laugh and her talent in the kitchen that produced scents that could tempt the entire neighborhood.

"You'd walk by that house and smell it and even if you weren't hungry, you'd get hungry," said Wanda Nelson, who lived around the corner. "Oooooh, could that woman cook."

In that house, out of that kitchen, Jessie Mae raised children and grandchildren – including one who became famous.

And on every possible occasion she'd entertain her extended family too. The entire clan would pack the place for her chicken and ribs, her cakes and pies, her hugs and smiles; generations of Jessie Mae's brood – including one who became infamous.

It was there that two young cousins first talked about how they were both going to make it big, make a name for themselves, make it out of Detroit and into one of those rich suburbs to the north where the auto execs live.

He should get an extra 6 months for letting his grandma live in that shitty little house. :smh:

I just read the article, seems just sad.
Doesn't matter if Traylor never became a "superstar" he became more successful than most, made more money than most, and probably has destroyed his family and future by not having the right people around him.

Doesn't seem to be a case of a wannabe "thug", just somebody who needed to keep a trustworthy accountant, business manager, and legal team on the payroll.

Shiiiiiiiiiiiit, that bitch is in Lake Michigan already.

The woman was a girlfriend of one of the couriers. In her unstable mind, the big bags of mostly cash looked like they contained a dead body. At first sight she flipped, ran down to the front desk and began screaming "he's dead" in Spanish. The startled hotel worker called the police. There was no body, just an incredible amount of evidence that federal authorities painstakingly used to prosecute nearly the entire group and seize some $18.4 million in cash and property. There have been over 30 convictions of dealers, couriers, smugglers and hit men
Yo im sorry but...that shit is funny

he goin to a country club jail. dont money laundering related convicts get sent to those country club relax type jails since its a white collar crime? unless they gonna make an example of him....

Man, it's hard as hell to get old folks to leave their homes, no matter HOW BAD the neighborhood might be or how small the house is. Shit, I've got aunts who've lived in their houses 45+ years, houses my uncles worked long ass hours in the steel mills to buy and OWN, and even though the hood around time has went to shit, they REFUSE to leave. Can't get mad at Traylor if that's the situation.

Those type of prisons (from reading newspapers and watching television news) are generally reserved for the causcasian white collar offenders.
When a brother commits the same white collar crime as a white man, it seems like the prosecution and the judge will try to make a example of him by giving him a more harsh punishment by sentencing him to a prison with less amenities and stricter rules.
