Damn.. I was just watching a documentary a few days ago about an old nyc hate crime killing back in the 80s the other day and it showed him, fat version of Al sharpton, farakahn , and mayor dinkins in it.. it showed how these dudes got together to bring justice.. r.i.p
Though I know that many people looked at him many ways. He chose a roll and went with it.. I think most of us grew up knowing he did dedicate his life to the Civil rights movement no matter what we may agree or disagree about it.. Godspeed Sir.
Barack Obama made history, but in ‘88, Jackson almost pulled off securing the democratic nomination. Took a black man another 20 years, in a slightly more “liberal” country, to get to where Jackson got in ‘88 coming off almost 8 years of Reagan and Reaganomics.
May Rev. Jackson’s story and legacy never be forgotten.
Definitely a champion for civil rights. I think he showed his strengths as far as being diplomatic and a great negotiatior when he negotiated the release of hostages in Syria, Iraq, and Kosovo. One of the strongest speakers ever especially at the Democratic conventions. Remember when he yelled Stay Out The Bushes at the 2000 Democratic Convention? Hilarious. Rest Well. Thank you for your support !!
There are those that have disparaging things to say about Mr. Jackson, and I am NOT one of em. He dedicated his life to the advancement of black people and was the face of the civil rights movement in the 70s & 80s.
Rest easy sir. You fought the good fight. I'll ALWAYS remember as a child you had me saying I AM SOMEBODY.
Rest In Peace. As a kid growing up in the 80s, he was the 1st of our people I was introduced to, who fought for civil rights. A lot has happened under his watch, weather you like him or not.
