A freshman wingnut from Utah, Jason Chaffetz, criticized the president on the presence of lobbyists in his administration and for not televising each step of the creation of health reform legislation. The president defended his administration on the lobbying charge, pointing out that few lobbyists were in positions of influence. As far as health care was concerned, Obama did concede that the process had been messy and he should have taken a greater role in shaping the process, although he did point out that process had been very open with committee hearings being open to the public and broadcast on C-SPAN. <SPAN style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff00">Now, the question and response weren’t particularly all that interesting, but I wanted to bring up this wingnut because of a little tidbit brought up by MSNBC’s Chris Matthews It seems that Chaffetz, in an attempt to curry favor withthe populist teabagger crowd, last year proposed a piece of legislation (cosponsored by Michelle “Crazy Eyes” Bachmann and Joe “You Lie!” Wilson) banning the use of “invasive” full-body scanners at airports. After the December arrest of the “Underwear Bomber,” it might be appropriate to ask these wingnuts why they want to make it easier for the terrorists. Too bad Obama didn’t use this occasion to call this punk out on this matter.</SPAN>
