New Jersey woman sues country club for $30,000 after waiter 'spilled red wine on her $12,000 Hermès handbag' and claims staff 'discriminated' against her because she owned 'that type of accessory'
A New Jersey woman is suing a country club for $30,000 after a waiter allegedly spilled red wine on a luxury Hermès bag.
Maryana Beyder was having dinner at the upmarket Alpine Country Club in Demarest in September 2017 when a server allegedly stained her pink designer bag, according to a lawsuit obtained by northjersey.com.
Beyder tried to sort out the matter with the country club directly for over a year, her lawyer Alexandra Errico said.
But the club stopped responding and she said an insurance company was also dismissive as they were surprised at the cost of the bag.
Errico told the outlet: 'Whoever the waiter was proceeded to pour red wine and didn't stop. Poured it all over her. Poured it all over her husband. And poured it all over a very expensive Hermès bag.'
'It's sort of like a rich person problem. They couldn't comprehend that a bag could be that much. I think that was the biggest problem with that.
'They kind of discriminated against her that she actually owned that type of bag.'
In the lawsuit, Beyder claims the exclusive country club was 'negligent' when it employed the server who also spilled wine on her blouse, the New York Post reported.
