Two men arrested for murder of high school basketball star Tayshana (Chicken) Murphy; caught in S.C.
Two men wanted for the shooting death of a Harlem hoops star this month were pinched in South Carolina Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Tyshawn Brockington, 21, and Robert Cartagena, 20, were arrested in Columbia, S.C., police said.
They had been on the lam since the Sept. 11 slaying of Tayshana (Chicken) Murphy.
It was not clear how police tracked down the duo, but a law enforcement source said one of them had a girlfriend in the area where they were nabbed.
Police said both men were caught on surveillance video walking up to the Grant Houses in Harlem moments before Murphy, 18, was chased through her building in that development and shot three times.
Murphy, a senior at Murry Bergtraum High School and a college hoops prospect, pleaded for her life as bullets ripped into her chest, hip and arm, witnesses said.

Ex-con Terique Collins, 24, an aspiring rapper, was arrested soon after the shooting.
Collins, a convicted drug dealer, was charged with weapons possession after a witness saw him hand a pistol to either Cartagena or Brockington, police said.
Detectives believe Murphy's killing may have stemmed from an ongoing feud between street crews in the Grant Houses and nearby Manhattanville Houses.
Murphy or her brother may have been involved in an assault prior to her murder, cop sources said.
Both Brockington and Cartagena have prior arrest records: Brockington was arrested for assault last year, and Cartagena has three busts for the same charge.
Charges in connection with Murphy's killing were pending both men. They are waiting to be extradited back to the city.
