Republicans are soulless, evil trolls and will destroy everyone to get to Obama

I have in the past voted for Republicans locally and I'm sure I will again. Party is secondary when considering who's the better candidate to me.
That said, national Republicans and members of the talk show wing of their party have proven to be morally inconsistent and dangerous to the development of this country.
The latest example, and the one that got under my skin enough to make a thread about it, is how they fight to the death to protect any type of tax increase on upper earners but seem eager to raise taxes on working class people at every opportunity, with them wanting to end the payroll tax holiday as the most recent example.
They're just indefensible. They fully deserve Newt Gingrich to be their nominee. He's the prototype for what they represent and what that party has become: a bloated, arrogant whore.

Would you ever consider not voting for either party?

Not necessarily out of protest but for peace of mind.

I don't recall you asking Gunner or Actlikeanass that question?

I've never heard an admission from either that they would even entertain voting for a democrat. Just like I wouldn't ask you that simply because I don't think you would entertain voting for a republican, or would you? UpgradeDave just strikes me as a person who wants to support the right candidate for the job, regardless of party affiliation.

I know I know I know, some more of my nonsensical bullshit, right? :D

I thought I stated this before. This confirms you don't read. I became an independent back in 1988 when the Democratic Party dissed Jesse Jackson during his campaign. I registered as Democrat again when I moved to Georgia because you have to declare a party to vote in the primaries. I rarely miss a vote. Too many of my elders died for that right and i will mot dishonor them by doing so. In my home state of Connecticut, i use to vote for republicans. Since then, they have not given me any reason.

What Democrats have you voted for?

If there was a viable third party candidate, yes. And by viable, not just the idea that he/she could win but viable in a sense that they could make an impact.

I couldn't have worded that better myself :D

Another example of their soulless, moralless existences is they way their handling the Post Office.
There are a number of ways USPS could be saved that wouldn't end up with thousands of unemployed middle class/working class people but they don't want to do those, they want to destroy the union.

I'm to the point where I don't even blame the politicians for being whores but rank and file Republicans (Gunner, AAA) need to stand up and tell their political leadership to stop the bullshit and fuckery that makes their party look like comic book super villains. Enough of this "my team/your team" bullshit, you know this shit is indefensible and yet you sit by silently or worse try to find some way to talk about Obama. Demand your leadership in Washington and state houses across the country to start behaving like leaders.

Pardon my language.

I just see many inconsistency in their policies, such as deficit spending, war spending, and big government surveillance (Patriot Act) which they adamantly support. I also don't like their anti-union, free trade policies at the expense of workers. They should support small government and small corporations.

I also don't like the racist elements in their political party, although not as bad as in the past. They should means test entitlement programs instead of trying to get rid of them to shrink them down and lower taxes.

Other than that, I agree with some of their positions and could vote for some of their candidates.

This is why Republicans need to not try to work with the democrats unless it's in their favor.

When it comes to taxes, the conservative stance is to have a simple tax system that would promote economic growth, and generate the most revenue they can with less strain on the economic system.

BTW, who you think is going to be blame for raising taxes on the Middle Class? The Tea Party? Really?

Another thing, people keep talking about Newt will get crushed by Obama. If that's the case, why not say you like Newt? Why so worried about who the republicans bring out? I mean the republican field is so stupid anyway. You should be happy that Obama will get a second term because the dumb, "soulless" republicans are just that stupid.

Your post summed up!

Newt will get crushed. He is enjoying the same bit of luck for a few weeks that Bachmann, Perry, and Cain received. At the end of the day a man who has lived a life of pure hypocrisy in every aspect of his professional and even personal life is not going to be elected president.

With that being said, the Republican party of the time period since Obama was elected, and this is coming from someone who has been as hard on Obama as any Democrat on BGOL, has essentially been a sort of fifth column. The underlying motivation behind many of their policies, whereby they are actively seeking for the weakening of the US in the hopes that the people will blame Obama and hopefully vote them back into the White House, is fundamentally treasonous.

Would you ever consider not voting for either party?

Yep . All the time. I don't vote for political parties or along a party line.

As best I can, given the candidates and their particular opinions/positions, I vote for those who are most closely aligned with my perspectives. Of course, the only candidate that would share my perspective completely would be me, so there are always trade-offs and lessers of. Bottom line, I have voted for candidates who were running as republicans and some democrats who probably were, as well. I've also voted for a few republicans who were probably democrats, but couldn't tell and didn't want anyone to ask.

Other than all of their policies, you agree with some of their policies? It looks like you would have saved time saying what you agree with in that post.
On a national basis, I can't see anything about the party to support. They're not inconsistent, they're flaming hypocrites and they've managed to get worse in the last 10 yrs with it somehow getting worse in the last 3.

This is why Republicans need to not try to work with the democrats unless it's in their favor.

That may be the conservative stance but it's not the current Republican national platform.

BTW, who you think is going to be blame for raising taxes on the Middle Class? The Tea Party? Really?

The GOP will blame Obama and the Democrats, even though it's clearly their fault and it's not an accident. This is a calculated plot to hold down the country and economy to make Obama look bad.

You misunderstand me completely. Newt Gingrich is the epitome of the soulless Republican who is more than willing to whore himself out not just to the highest bidder but just to the next bidder. I don't like Newt at all but he's just a better talking Herman Cain. There is no worry coming from me in an Obama-Gingrich matchup.
I would be happy for a second Obama term but I reject that kind of simplistic, jingoistic thinking. I prefer Obama but I want him to have to fight hard and earn another term. I think the country benefits from true battles of ideas and none of the current Republican candidates offer that.

I find it interesting and telling that none of our resident Republicans have come in to defend their party. AAA threw in a series of non-sequitars but not a defense. There even seems to be a new one in Break Bread and he's silent as well.
If you can't defend your party, why are you a member?

Ebola epidemic turns into Obama blame game
The cure for Ebola can’t be found by pointing fingers, but that
won’t stop some conservatives from playing the Obama blame game

From right-wing media pundits to certain lawmakers on Capitol Hill, the current epidemic that has so far claimed the lives of over 3,400 people is yet another opportunity for critics to jump on the president’s leadership and policies – Ebola-related, or not.

“From the outset of the Ebola outbreak we have been two steps behind, when we should have been two steps ahead,” Republican Sen. Richard Burr said Friday in a statement. “The President made a lot of commitments to combat Ebola, actions which I supported, but it has become clear that the Administration’s capacity to fulfill these promises in a timeline that sufficiently addresses this crisis does not exist.”

Burr’s remarks come as the House Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, chaired by Republican Rep. Tim Murphy, scheduled a hearing to go over the government’s preparedness and response plans – efforts that have been called into question since officials confirmed the first Ebola diagnosis in the United States this week.

Republican Rep. Michael Burgess told The Hill on Thursday that the Obama administration could have prevented Ebola from entering the U.S. had the State Department been more vigilant. Meantime, GOP Sen. Rob Portman criticized the CDC for resisting elevated levels of screening for passengers entering the U.S.

Others lodged more far-fetched charges.

Speaking to Laura Ingraham on Wednesday, Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, a potential 2016 candidate, accused the Obama administration of allowing “political correctness” to dominate its decisions related to the outbreak.

“For example,” said Paul, “if you’re [having] a worldwide conference of African leaders right now, wouldn’t it make sense to delay it for four months and not have them all come to New York City? It’s ridiculous for them to be underplaying this threat and saying, ‘No big deal.’”

In August, the White House went ahead with a scheduled three-day summit in Washington D.C., attended by nearly 50 African heads of state, despite concerns over the intensifying Ebola epidemic. Leaders from Liberia and Sierra Leone – two countries hit hardest by the outbreak – canceled their plans to attend, and additional medical screening was set up for officials traveling from those nations. No one in the U.S. contracted Ebola as a result of the summit.

Paul also expressed concern over the number of U.S. military personnel traveling to West Africa as part of Obama’s pledge to lead an international response. The Pentagon is preparing to send up to 3,600 troops to assist in the construction of treatment facilities, a shortage of which has contributed to the disease’s spread. While the U.S. will eventually provide medical personnel to train health care workers in West Africa, as of now there are no plans for the troops to provide direct care to Ebola patients.

“Imagine if a whole shipload of our soldiers get Ebola?” Paul said. “I’m concerned about this. It’s a big mistake to downplay it, and act as if this is not a big deal, we can control all of this. This could get beyond our control.”

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has repeatedly stressed that Ebola is only transmittable through direct contact with the bodily fluids, unlike airborne diseases. While there could be more cases diagnosed in the U.S., health officials are confident it won’t spread to vast swaths of the population.

Paul, however, offered his “suspicion” that the disease is “a lot more transmissible” than the CDC has let on. When the agency’s director, Tom Frieden, appeared on Fox News’ “Fox & Friends” Wednesday, host Steve Doocy went so far as to question whether his analysis could be trusted given Frieden’s role in the Obama administration.

“[T]his is a political thing, but you’re part part of the administration,” Doocy said. “[The viewers] feel that the administration had misled a lot of people on a lot of things. Why should we believe you when you’re telling us this stuff?”

Ingraham raised similar alarms on her radio show Wednesday, asking listeners whether they believed what government officials were saying about the Ebola outbreak, given the country’s “biological incapability of telling the truth.” As evidence, Ingraham pointed to the Affordable Care Act, claiming that “none of” what the government said about its health care law was true.

Going after a different administration priority – developing more humane deportation practices – conservative shock jock Rush Limbaugh suggested that the “Washington establishment/political class” was making Ebola-related decisions based off its “desire” for “amnesty,” which he said “equals open borders.”

“Ebola, a killer virus, is political,” said Limbaugh. “We’re in the process of having it politicized. The left politicizes everything. The Democrat Party politicizes everything. Everything is politicized.”

Seems to me republicans have no clue how to handle it.

They are more interested in spending billions on border fences and national guard troops patrolling the boarder.

Or, read the transcript:
LIMBAUGH: Individual Republican candidates won, and they won big. They won in a wave landslide running against Obamacare. The national Republican brand or image didn't say a word, which makes the mandate that they have all the more incredible. It is rare that a political party running for office in a midterm election, not standing for anything, ends up with a mandate. And they have one. And it is the biggest, and perhaps the most important mandate a political party has had in the recent era. And it is very simple what that mandate is. It is to stop Barack Obama. It is to stop the Democrat Party. There is no other reason why Republicans were elected yesterday.

Republicans were not elected to govern. How can you govern with a president that disobeys the constitution? How can you govern with a president that is demonstrably lawless when he thinks he has to be? The Republican Party was not elected to fix a broken system and to make it work. The Republican Party was not elected to compromise. The Republican Party was not elected to sit down and work together with the democrats. The Republican Party was not elected to slow down the speed the country is headed to the cliff, and go over it slowly. The Republican Party was elected to stop before we get to the cliff. And that's the mandate.

Rush Limbaugh has given marching orders to newly-elected Republican senators and governors. They are not to ever think they should try and govern. They are there only to stop President Obama. That is all.

So to be clear here, Republicans broke the federal government by obstructing every single thing they could for the last four years. Then they campaigned on broken government and voters either fell in line like sheep or just didn't bother with that whole pesky voting thing at all.

They broke it, they won it, and now they're going to break it some more. Because dammit, this is about stopping the uppity black man in the White House. Nothing more, nothing less.

This is what happens when 2-year olds are rewarded for bad behavior. They turn into politicians sucking on the teats of billionaires.
