Reminder to my playa's: Too Short UNSUNG comes on tonight!

Good lookout watching Arizona and Kansas college ball. Will check this out at halftime.

I don't know about that. Ice T would give him a run for his money in BOTH categories. And Ice T is so cold with the game he admitted that he's a horrible rapper.

You know what, now you have me thinking....

ice-t is a way better rapper than short
Hmmm? Gotta go back and listen now cause you niggas for me feeling all hip hop and shit now!

I wouldn't say he was the wackest bro, maybe not lyrical but he always made good songs that people liked to bump in their trunks.

$hort Dog's not a rappity rap dude, he's a game spitter. With quotes for days and the bumps. Some people can't discern between the two.

:lol::lol::lol:

And Too Short has way more classics than Ice-T.

Too Short never really claimed to be hip-hop. He was one of the first artists to distinctly classify his stuff as "rap" as opposed to hip-hop. Hip-hop gets much deeper and cultural and is much more pure than rap.

Rap is basically trendy street music emphasizing fun and flash and more trivial matters musically and lyrically than hip-hop with it's much more serious approach. Rap can occasionally promote serious messages just like hip-hop can be fun and silly sometimes.

But generally the two are considered to be separate genres or at least rap being a sub genre of hip-hop. Short Dog came out in the late 80s right smack dab in the middle of hip-hop's golden renaissance era of lyrical giants. I remember. I was there. Dudes stuff just came out of nowhere going in the complete opposite direction of everybody else.

And the wild thing about it nobody else even TRIED to sound like dude. It was a strange wild and diverse time for hip-hop.

I pull out my old white Too Short tape ... 1983

30 years in the game. With more platinums than your favorite rapper.

Short go back to the 2 tone Falcons, Cougnuts, Stangs & the Trans Am Clubs of the early 80'z.

Respect to Too-$hort, a true OG Legend of the rap game. 1 of my favorite West Coast rappers of all time.

this song here complements "know the ledge" from Juice.

Plus the way he explains how he does it sounds as a professional as ever.
And he's quick to teach a lesson on damn every song!

Wouldnt call it punked. Unless you dont mind riding around with a strap on your front seat 24/7. It was some kill or be killed shit going on at the time. Not a comfortable life, especially if you make your living legally.

It was some serious crews tearing shit up. He was never a dope dealer or gangsta. But he knew them all. His situation got crossed into some bigger politics.

Oakland has taxed every rapper at some point. Its the game. Short made the right move, the smart move. Thats why he is still alive & making money. And wisely spending a majority of his time in LA. Oakland is a small pond filled with barracuda.

Tough muthafuckaz get their stories told, by wise men 20-30 years later. Gotta be smart out here.
