he Toronto Raptors have fired coach Sam Mitchell after Wednesday's 39-point loss in Denver.

"This is a difficult but necessary step the franchise must take," Raptors general manager Bryan Colangelo. "We appreciate all that Sam has done for the organization, applaud him for his successes and wish him nothing but the best with his future in basketball."

Mitchell will be replaced by Raptors assistant coach Jay Triano on an interim basis. He is in his seventh season as a Raptors assistant. A native of Niagara Falls, Triano coached the Canadian men's national team from 1998-2004, posting a 52-42 record.

I'll ask again, How does dunleavy still have a gig ?

Mike Dunleavy is just unbelieably bad with so much talent on a team.

I don't know what he got going for LAC but they need to get rid of him - get Avery Johnson to that team.

LAC have so much talent and they are losing games :smh: I mean you got Camby, Baron D, Zach R, and Kris Kaman - all 4 are solid players.

Pacers have been winning with less quality players (except for Danny G) than the LAC.

Same thing I wonder when I watch George Karl coach..:smh:

Well, George Karl is looking happy these days with Billups at PG.
The nuggets are serious contenders in the west now.

I mean they've beaten good teams in the west and east - blew out the Raptors and beat the Celtics earlier this year.

I think he'll start getting respect again with the Nuggets who are similar to his successful Sonics (Melo = Kemp, Billups = Gary Payton)

not casting a vote in favor of coach dunleavy, BUT... are you serious with that squad?

I think that is a decent team/talent that has potential to win games - much more than what they have currently.

They should be at least 7-10 right now and not 3-14. Look at the Spurs who are 9-8 with Manu & Tony Parker missing for almost all of those games.

They have the talent to win games. Baron Davis is one of the best pure point guards in the NBA (IMO). A good coach would realize that help create an offense that flows around/through him.

This to me suggests the need for a better coaching staff.

Just dead wrong....

8-9 record after two straight playoff appearances??
With ANDREA BARGNANA (as in "ill") as your big draft pick?

Colangelo, you should fire yourself

Kaman is history:

Camby - center
Randolph - PF
Thornton - SF
E. Gordon - SG
B. Diddy - PG

and enough playing time to keep them all happy
(should be the start of something big)

and  about the Denver Nugget comment (about them being contenders .......NOW)

The Bulls should trade Sefalosha and Noah for Kris Kaman.

Makes sense for both teams. It would give Chicago the center they need and fortify the Clippers depleted bench

which means it'll probably never happen
