-An article by McClatchy Newspapers states that, “according to a former boss, [Paulose] has been a member of the secretive, ideologically conservative Federalist Society,” an organization “dedicated to reforming the current legal order” by “developing and promoting far-right positions and influencing who will become judges, top government officials, and decision-makers,” according to People for the American Way. “Many members of the Federalist Society advocate a rollback of civil rights measures, reproductive choice, labor and employment regulations, and environmental protections,” PFAW states."

they stick together I wonder whether her backer [Sen. Norm Coleman] was a part of that or supports it in any capacity. I'm sure that $1,500 wasn't the only thing that tipped the scales in her favor.

[bolded] she's also shooting herself in the foot...people will do whatever to get ahead and stay there. Repeal the same provisions that got her to where she is in the first place :smh: . Hopefully for her sake that excerpt is hearsay and untrue. The new president is going to have his hands full.
 
<font size="4"><center>Is There A connection with Paulose and the Gonzalez Scandal?</center>

In an article publised today, April 7, 2007, in the New York Times it was noted that Paulose was appointed Interim U.S. Attorney and then U.S. Attorney following the resignation of Thomas B. Heffelfinger, who had been selected for the job in President Bush’s first term.

Before being sent to Minnesota, Paulose was a senior aide to Paul J. McNulty, the deputy attorney general.

According to the New York Times article, "Heffelfinger said he left voluntarily and had been under no pressure to resign" indicating, perhaps, his resignation was not connected with the Gonzales Scandal.

BUT, "E-mail released by the Justice Department suggests that Mr. Heffelfinger may have been on a preliminary list. One e-mail message in January 2006 from D. Kyle Sampson, who was then chief of staff for Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales, to Harriet E. Miers, the White House counsel, listed seven prosecutors who might be removed.

The names of three additional United States attorneys were edited from the copy of the e-mail message turned over to Congress, apparently because they had resigned and were replaced with other prosecutors slated for dismissal. Since Mr. Heffelfinger was among the three who resigned shortly after the e-mail was sent, there has been speculation he may have been on a list. He said he did not know whether he was ever on any such list."
