Question for those with Google Voice

I'm trying to get my company to buy me an Android phone so I no longer have to use the garbage ass blackberry they gave me with the hopes of porting over my personal number to Google Voice & having an all in 1 phone solution. Problem is GV doesn't do MMS. Does anyone know if you can use a 3rd party SMS app with GV so that the recipient sees it coming from the GV number as opposed to the host phone's number?

if ur on sprint u should get mms on android there for gv... i think there are apps as well but i dont use them

You have the option to send text with gv, when you to yu our contacts and hit the envelope you can choose to send the text from your gv acct.

I'm currently on Sprint but the service sucks at my job location. I would like to only use one phone for work related calls & emails but that won't happen with Sprint. I'm currently debating between Verizon & AT&T which have better service in that area.

Are you using the default SMS app or a specific 3rd party app? I'm currently using GoSMS & don't recall swing that option.

all I know is that GV got all in my shit and was a bitch to get out. Whatever you're looking to do, I'd advise you find an app for it instead of GV.

I integrated google Voice with my number on Sprint. I'm using a rooted HTC Evo 4G (Original Evo) and several custom ROMs.

I like Sense, so I've kept it (currently running 3.5 right now). I still do MMS straight from Sense. You got o Gallery, click on menu, hit share, and select messages. It will ask you to select a single file (probably compress the image) and then it opens up messaging as MMS. Then off it goes.

But really, how often do you send MMS messages? I'm under 10 in about a year. If you are sending a picture to someone else with a smart phone, there are better options like Kakao Talk...or just video chat with Tango.

My girl lives internationally. I have GV set up to only kick in for international calls. So, if I am out and about I can call her and it GV will kick in, and it's only like $0.05 a minute.

My number shows up when I call, and she doesn't have to be logged into anything. It works just like a phone. On the receivers end they don't know that you are using anything. I don't know of any app that works as well.

Even if you are using Skype for calls, I don't think it shows up as your number.

Plus, I like having my house phone ring if someone calls the cell so I don't have to go get it if I'm in another room (yes I still have a landline through Vonage, but that's a different post).
