question for the college football heads

i'm not a fan of college football (for the same reason i'm not a fan of college basketball) and don't follow the sport at all, so i need some clarification on a matter.

EVERYONE is blasting the BCS results from last night. (quick side note: is it just me, or is it RIDICULOUS that a network can get people to tune in to a prime time slotted show to see some bowl game rankings?)

i've listened to the "experts" and understand the numerous arguments AGAINST OSU v. LSU.

fine. i get that. i think.

but what i don't understand (and what i want to hear from knowledgeable college football fans) is WHO THEN, SHOULD REALLY BE IN THE "CHAMPIONSHIP" BOWL GAME? and WHY?

LSU because they play one of the roughest schedules. Thats why the BCS favors teams like them over, say, Hawaii. Yeah they need a playoff system bad. Im a big fan of college football, but thats my drawback also not having playoffs.

This year, as exciting as the season has been, it has been the worst as far as high ranked teams go...Many of the top 10 teams have at least 2 losses to end the season...NO team from a major conference holds an unbeaten team....

So this year it's not as clear cut as to who the top two teams are. That's why many people are screaming for a playoff, but only a 4 team format would work at first...then expand to 8...

As far as I go, I would go with Ohio State and Oklahoma...

I'm not that much a fan of CFB although I follow certain schools. I dont like I alot of the rules in CFB but to me, the teams that should play are... Well it should be a playoff system.

I wanted LSU to play West Virginia but the Mountaineers lost to Pitt :smh:

LSU is the best team in the country and I dont know how Ohio State keeps getting selected as #1.

Anyone know how much weight is placed on strength of schedule while calculating BCS percentages? I'm sure university enrollment and school endowment is figured somewhere into those numbers.

Not as much strength as there used to be...They took that out a couple of years ago, which helps a lot of teams out with problems scheduling. It's not like a Pac Ten team can schedule three teams from other large conferences every year.

I can pretty much gauge the strength of a team's schedule from the beginning of the year...Just count how many ranked teams they play from in conference then factor in the OOC schedule.
