President Obama Named The Most Admired Man In The World For The 7th Straight Year

The endless Republican anti-Obama campaign suffered another defeat as for the seventh consecutive year President Obama was named the most admired man in the world by Gallup.

According to Gallup,

Obama has appeared on the top 10 list each year since 2006, including ranking No. 1 in each of the last seven years, all by healthy margins over the second-place finisher. The incumbent president is nearly always the winner of the most admired distinction, having placed first in all but 12 of the 68 years the question has been asked.

Democrats and Democratic leaners widely choose Hillary Clinton (20%) and Barack Obama (33%) as the most admired woman and man, respectively. Not unexpectedly, Republicans and Republican leaners are much less likely to name either as their most admired. In fact, former Secretary of State Rice edges out Winfrey and Clinton as the most admired woman among Republicans. Obama and Pope Francis tie as the most admired man among Republicans, at 8%.

Republicans’ and Democrats’ top five most admired women include both Clinton and Winfrey, and their top five most admired men include both the president and the pope. Beyond these, their choices differ.

In our current era of bitter partisan divide, it is nice to know that respect for the president still exists. No president has faced the level of disrespect that Barack Obama has. Republicans have plotted and planned to destroy the man and his administration since his first day in office. Republicans have flooded the country with an intentional and negative barrage of misinformation about the president.

Republicans have been disrespectful of the president both in public and in private. It is important though that the disrespect that Republican partisans have in their hearts does not carry over to the American people as a whole.

bullshit, because the incumbent was G W Bush in 2008, but Obama beat him that year. based on the tradition...

...there is PLENTY to see there.

Beating Bush at the end of his fucked up 2 terms is an accomplishment? Bill Clinton tied with Bush in 2007 and Bush was the winner from 2001-2007... Bush was about as unpopular as you can get.

As it said, the Pres has won 56 out of 68. Hell, Reagan won every year too :smh:

the precedent is: almost every sitting president wins.

when someone comes in with the combo breaker, busting up a trend that was solid FIFTY SIX TIMES, those 8 other times ARE A BIG FUCKING DEAL.

don't try to downplay it, there are always reasons for things like this to happen, but that makes it no less an AMAZING accomplishment.

stop being a rusty twat. there is no way to legitimately minimize this.

You got this poll, compared to the polls that consistently give a less than 50% approval rating for Obama...

...I think that this poll makes a bit more sense (the admiration pool, not the approval poll)....

Oh, I'm paying attention, don't worry...it just means that people around the world have more sense than people in our own backyard. I've read a few things from overseas where some people can't understand the hate for the man (not taking into account the obvious)...they're saying, "Gas is low, they're more jobs, the economy is on the upswing, what's the problem with those people that don't like Obama?"
