President Obama and singer Ricky Martin bonded at a fundraiser today in New York over their mutual support for gay marriage.
"We admire his courage, like the courage he showed last week in affirming his belief in marriage equality," the pooler quotes Martin, an openly-gay musician famous for hits such as "Livin' la vida loca," as saying when he introduced Obama at a fundraiser today. "That is the kind of courage we expect from our presdient and that is why we support him."
Obama raised at least $1 million today meeting with 200 donors at a fundraiser hosted by Martin, "the LGBT Leadership Council and the Futuro Fund at the Rubin Museum of Art in New York City," according to the pool report.
The president reiterated his support for gay marriage. "I want everyone treated fairly in this country," he explained, arguing that gay marriage "doesn't weaken families, [but] strengthens famiies" by extending rights.
