popcaan defends drake against mr vegas

Not surprised

Instead of doing the smart thing by using this opportunity to ride the wave unify flood the world with new dope authentic dance hall music and features...

They gonna do some crab barrel and let outsiders benefit from the decades of hard work.

6 god wins again...

And so does Bieber, Rihanna and those one hit wonder white dance hall cover bands.

Don't know no better youth thinking he knows more than someone who is older and wiser... The youth are hungry and lack the proper insight to see the traps that are often baited with money and fame...
This is the very same trap that destroyed HIPHOP...

I explained it in the last post on the subject, let me see if I can find it....
ONe thing Jamaican people do is make sure they keep dancehall music theirs by establishing Jamaica as the Mecca so in other words no matter how good you are as a dancehall artist if you don't get the seal of approval from Jamaica you will never make it, this keeps their music pure to the essence by making it impossible for other people to jack... The same thing can be said about Country music and Nashville, Soca music and Trinidad, Motown music and Detroit, and one time it was HIP HOP and NYC..
But now that the Mecca has been destroyed in HIP HOP now white people and clown rappers are free to destroy the art... The reason why rap sucks so much today is because instead of protecting our Mecca like the Jamaicans and West Indians, we went out of our way to destroy it, and practically handing it over to the white man and his money...
Mr Vegas and most Jamaican artist knows this, so they go out of their way, often resisting the big bucks to protect their culture.... Something we know nothing about here in Amerikkka..

Lemme guess, "Popcaan" works with Drake :hmm:

He was supposed to be on the song on Drake album....some folks were upset...so part of what Vegas said had to do with him...Popcaan will be on the remix and him and Drake are cool...so basically, he telling Vegas to mind his business

You right but if the man dem sort it out already why Vegas a jump inna dem business

Vegas probably angrier than most because of his history...he and Sean Paul did a song years and Sean Paul was the one who got big off of it...Pitbull basically launched his career by singing the song "Culo" which basically copied the melody, style and rhythm (but not lyrics) of Vegas song "Pull Up"...so Vegas has definitely been close to the real big time but has never quite gotten there...it makes sense that he would be a bit more sensitive

Yeah all that shit is wishful thinking and your example of hip-hop proves it. Hip-hop wasn't destroyed by white people. If it's destroyed at all anyway.

And what's "destroyed" about hip-hop is already destroyed in dancehall with. I ones help- actually there are some old school reggae music heads who would say dancehall is what destroyed reggae with the slackness lyrics, gun talk, drug talk, etc....

And Jamaica IS the Mecca of it, but it's a musical rhythm that travels the globe with the people who travel. It's not like there was no dancehall artists in Canada already. Or new York. Or England. Or Africa for that fact- they jack it all the time and make hits. But I guess since the African market ain't getting more money than them, no one's gonna call patorankin out.

There's been tons of white ska groups who had a ball with that and that's from Jamaica. Tons of reggae groups and Thats from Jamaica. If you wanna go to a real dancehall party you'd have to have jamaicans but if you think they ain't puttin on Justin Beiber "sorry" at some point or Drake, you're buggin. People can copyrights and publishing but they can't own a rhythm. The thing that makes most people even like it in another market is when they're allowed to do it also and in their own way. Free it up.

Very good point with that song. Vegas shouldn't be mad about anything though. He got money off the song and still tours on it. I don't know what arrangement he has on Pitbulls version .in America he would be due something. If Jamaica has reciprocal laws then he would get something or at least have grounds to sue.

Wait, here is Vegas saying he got PAID for Pitbulls version. So wtf is he mad about?

Looks like Meek and AR AB all over again. Smh. Rap is competitive, but I hate seeing My Brothers divided. Wish they all saw the bigger picture.

n da irony...look at the shirt he wearing....smh...

lol

no respect for the ones that paved the way for his checks to b bigger....:rolleyes2:
Where's the disrespect for elders who paved the way? Vegas is out here biting the hand that's feeding pop caan about something HE isn't involved in. I'd be pissed too if a guy who isn't involved in my business is speaking publicly on my business. If Vegas wanted to be respectful, he'd contact dude directly, tell him what he thinks, give him business advice , and keep this out of the blogs.

wtf was that?

disrespectful

and make no mistake that was a physical threat, i actually felt like fucking him up through the video

and those puppies he is riding with on some gangsta shit? shit made my blood boil.

That's the shit that sparks off beef in the fucking hood, that kind of disrespectful display

the future of dancehall is NOT this guy

by next year he will be irrelevant

fuck him and his music

shit just got personal for me

There's no fight. Pop just told Vegas to not speak on HIS business which is perfectly fair. And Drake is a "brother" too or are we still making rules on whos black whenever we feel like it?

you see that man's body language?

that was a fucking threat

"They say what we know
Is just what they teach us;
And we're so ignorant
'Cause every time they can reach us (shoobe, doo-wa)
Through political strategy (shoo-be, doo-wa);
They keep us hungry (shoobe, doo-wa),
And when you gonna get some food (shoobe, doo-wa),
Your brother got to be your enemy, we-e-ell!"

You're somewhat right.

And as the ELDER in the situation it's up to Vegas to respond with a threat or realize lil dude is right and he should just mind his own business.

All this is is a BROTHA from another market (Canada) who happens to have the world market on like, featuring one of the Jamaican BROTHA (pop caan) and another BROTHA (Vegas) getting mad about it and trying to ruin it for the next BROTHA

Vegas is not going to respond with a threat

I grew up around guys like that

They act tough to the world who don't know how they grew up.

They wear the toughness outside but the inside is insecure as shit

See the body language from his boys?

See his dip when he was acting out?

I don't know where you are from but that means i will go down if you fuck with me.

So that part was not cool.

My problem is when you have hood people adopting a craft, getting some success and acting all hard.

popcaan is NOT an artist

He doesn't study the craft, work on his craft etc....

He made some hits, is popular now but will crash and burn.

Meanwhile the US locked down the conscious reggae artist from traveling.

All designs to kill the culture.

There is a WAR going on to kill reggae music and youths like pop can't see the forest for the trees

:smh:
