He wasn't hired.

He and Zimmerman are friends. The store has been robbed a couple of times so as a favor Zimmerman offered to watch the store overnight free of charge.

Something happened and the police rolled up to see Zimmerman sitting in his truck behind the store. They asked if he was employed there as a security guard n he told them no.

The owner hired him off the books that why there ain't no W4's and any other irs forms stating Zimmerman works there plus he still owe his lawyers money
