A sphere can't be technically classified by a photograph. Just like many things that can't be classified unless it is in real life. For example, you can't show a picture of a bright blue sky with no clouds and say in that picture the temperature is 75 degrees F and the wind speed 10 mph.

Well that's mighty interesting. So you're saying by looking at photos of supposed spheres, you can't really determine if they're really spheres or not?

Yes. And I know where you are going with this question. You are probably thinking if that is the case, how do we know if the Earth is a sphere since most of us have only seen it via pictures and TV? Easy, like the temperature and wind, they can be measured with instruments and physical testing.
There are many rockets that are flown into space monthly. China has been to space way more than the US. If Elon Musk is is successful with his SpaceX project, you may be able to buy a ticket to see the Earth in it's entirety for yourself.
Or you can pay Russia or China, like a few billion dollars for a seat on their next trip up.
ETA: if you have been high enough on a plane you can start to see the curvature of the Earth. It was one of the first things I notice on my first trip to China. The pilot flew us over the North pole.
I just thought he was saying that a sphere is a 3 dimensional shape and as such its shape cannot be accurately ascertained by a 2 dimensional photograph. All we are able to see is a circle.

Earth isn't quite a sphere, a sphere is perfectly symmetrical the earth isn't. The earth is considered a spheroid.
