California regulator to vote on another PG&E rate increase
The California Public Utilities Commission is expected to vote on Thursday on a new proposal that would add another fixed charge to electric bills.
PG&E says they need another rate hike . Even after 2 Billion in profits .

The government needs to use that infrastructure bill money to buy them out and turn it into a nonprofit.
That way the money that goes into shareholders pockets can go into upgrading transmission lines, green energy, and stabilizing the criminally high rates.
It would mean less forest fires. Fewer blocks exploding from bad gas lines. The CEO would be in charge of improving the service rather than raising profits. If they fail they get replaced.
Government-owned utility companies are one of the best forms of socialism. It works in Canada and needs to work here ASAP!

Just got my parents solar with the Tesla battery. About to finish converting them to all electric and get off PG&E for good. I’m sure there are some negatives but Sunrun has a program with PG&E. They will (for free - but will be tied to the long term lease) provide a Tesla Battery system and install solar panels if you live in the Bay. Parents are paying like $250 a month for 10,000 kw plus 25-year lease.

Fuck Tesla . I ain’t giving that racist piece of shit anything . Second my issue with solar is it takes like 15 years to break even. You also still have to pay for Gas from PGE. Not to mention if you need to replace your roof you have to pay for removal and install all over again on top of the new roof cost. Doesn’t seem very cost efficient

While I agree wholeheartedly on Fuck Tesla, the programs solar have now make it a no brainer to go all electric (no gas). The upfront costs are minimal (if you lease) - parents needed a new roof so they facilitated that as part of the package.
Basically they paid for a new roof, got the battery system for free and are now paying Sunrun only (and not PGE for electric and cost of solar). Shit is so minimal, its hard to see a downside, especially getting off PG&E and $900 monthly bills.
