I've already stated that this is the best basketball team on Earth
And why should USA's B team be good enough to win FIBA?
Everyone's already stated that with basketball, the world has caught up. But that wasn't the point.
The point was that the best players in the world collectively play in the NBA and that champion is the World Champion.
But enough of that, this is the best basketball team on planet Earth and the true "World" Champion.

Just cause the NBA pays the best/has the most exposure doesn't mean they're premier. UFC doesn't pay the best but everybody fights to get into that promotion. NBA has the "best" players, but how often does USA consistently win the gold and dominate the Olympics?

Its not having it both ways. Its the reality of what happened.
Having it both ways implies that the argument somehow changed based on the outcomes.. Here, everything remains the same. The best basketball is played in the states.. the best players are born and raised in the states.. the best league is in the states. Our D team can compete with the best teams from everywhere else on the planet. All of these things have been consistently stated and displayed young bro.

To say we're the best, but our D team got beat? Struggle or not at the end of the day a loss is a loss.
We have sent the "best" in the past and only won gold 5 times in the last 23 years.
The last 5 MVP's have been foreigners. It isn't that we're da best, we're just the most popular.
And our loss came by a combined 7 points in two games played by our D team against the best the world has to offer.
Excluding 2004.. we have won gold in EVERY single Olympic games we have sent anything above our D team. And before 1990 FIBA banned us from even using our pro level players because the shit was a got dam clown show.
And the previous 71 were all American with the exception of Hakeem.
To debate that we arent FAR and AWAY the best is moron shit and against ANY measurable that exists.
I am not arguing that we aren't the best. I am arguing that we aren't as good as we used to be. Basketball isn't just some sport that Americans play.
If we are so FAR and AWAY the best our D team shouldn't be losing. 10 years from now nobody remembers how many points USA lost by or who lost, it's a loss.
I am only bringing up the last twenty years, as we are a much more globalist world now. You didn't have as many foreigners playing in America sports leagues that wasn't hockey. Hell baseball looks like the gym at NATO. From the 70's (possibly earlier if I researched it) to the 90's I can only think of 3 maybe 4 foreign basketball players, that isn't the case in the last 20 years.
Basketball is a much more popular sport now that it was 50 years ago so these other countries are playing the game at a much higher level now. I think we are the best and will always root for them but the days of the Michael Jordan Dream Team are no longer a thing. But if you check the FIBA archive obviously I don't know what the fcuk I am talking about!!!
