Police officer shot, killed in New Kensington, Westmoreland County

NEW KENSINGTON, Pa. —
A police officer who was shot Friday night in New Kensington has died, multiple sources confirmed to Pittsburgh's Action News 4.
Heavy police activity is continuing in the 1200 block of Leishman Avenue, including state troopers, the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and officers from Swissvale, North Versailles, Lower Burrell, McKeesport, Allegheny County, Elizabeth and Penn Hills.
The officer who was shot has not yet been publicly identified.

Sources say multiple surrounding departments have joined in on the search for the shooter. A police helicopter is also joining the search.
Search teams were looking for a dark-colored SUV with temporary tags out of Penn Hills, according to a source.
