PC Heads...How Do These Specs Look?

that video card i would replace if u into gaming

those sandy bridges cpus overclock like a mofo from what i seen on air:yes:

u would save a little more money if u built that system on your own

i think that test was suspect....

the chips are faster but they are not giving 75 percent reductions in encoding times. also, xeon processors (the chip competing in the vid) are over priced and overhyped.

benchmarks from a decent source below.

:D Let me convince you with your own benchmarks

If you look at the i72600k vs the i5665k in the benchmark article you provided. You will notice that on average the i72600k is twice the speed in encoding or a 50% percent reduction in encoding over the i5 665k.

The i5 665k is a 4 quad unlocked processor. The op's Core 2 Duo E6400 is a locked dual core processor.

The Core 2 Duo E6400 is about 3 generations behind the i72600k

Conservatively speaking and based on the link you provided we can safely say that the i72600k would provide a 75% reduction in encoding over the Core 2 Duo E6400.

Perfect example. This is a 95% reduction.

doesn't matter. your math doesn't take a number of factors into account.

in addition to that it is not even a fair comparison to put up a sb processor against a processor that is almost 5 or 6 years old (if not more). (amd 3700) who does that? :dunno:

that is like putting a amd 3700 up against a 486. what the hell does that accomplish???

edit: that processor is going on 8 years old. pure lunancy.

Again quick question....dont clown me on this one..hahaha

Lets say I buy that PC from qvs which has the i7 2600. Can I replace that with a i7 2600k and just slang the i2600? is it easy to do? Reason i ask is because someone above said that the i7 2600k is faster then the i7 2600 and thats what the qvc pc comes with.

You should be able to replace the 2600 with the 2600k, however you might need to update your bios first.

easy is a relative term. to me it is easy. you'd have to remove the heatsink, take out the old cpu, put the new cpu in, probably clean the old thermal grease off of the heatsink, apply new TIM (Thermal Interface Material) to the cpu, and then put the heatsink back on.

The 2600k is not faster than the 2600. The "k" means it has an unlocked multiplier which means that it can be overclocked alot further than the 2600. Basically it'll be faster than the 2600 if both are overclocked to their max. If you are going to (heavily) overclock, you'll need an aftermarket heatsink.

if you don't plan on overclocking, there'd be no point in getting the 2600k over the 2600.

Good lookin homie. Thats EXACTLY what I wanted to hear because I know for sure that im not overclockin.

 Your a hard egg to crack but the numbers don't lie. i7 is the truth

The processors in the video is the original "Lynnfield" i7 and the "San Diego"Athlon 64 3700+. They are 3 years apart and keep in mind this video is two years old.

The Core 2 Duo E6400 came out at the end of 2006. That's 4 years apart from the i72600k. Which means the video is a perfect example to justify my modest suggestion of a 75% decrease in rendering time.

Yes you could do that. We want you to build this PC. But if you don't build it yourself and get the PC from QVS and do nothing more, the end result is that you will be happy with the performance either way.
