Just wanted to ask how did you pick your kids name?

And if you were to have another child what would name them?

Would you choose a African name?

Would you name the kid after someone famous?
Like an athlete artist musician....
Or a fictional character?

Or would MAKE UP a name?

In the morning....

I picked ten names I liked.

She picked ten names she liked.

In the evening we compared our selections.

We had one in common and that's what we named him.

*two cents *

My wife and I made a list of classic names. We got help from baby naming sites. I wanted one, she wanted another, so we joined them for a first and middle. We didn't have any relationship with either of our top two; we just like how they sounded together. Admittedly, we did avoid names that might indicate her racial background. We didn't want to have our daughter effected by biases as a result of her name, especially when it comes to looking for employment in the future. If we do have a second child, I've already told my wife that I want to get closer to our roots, with whatever name we select.

I didn't name any of my children until they were born. During the pregnancies I never entertained discussions about names. Suffice to say none of my children have European names.

Book of names. Saw a unique yet professional name and went with it. She picked out the middle which was dope too. My kid's name is SUPER employable I am told lol but not your typical Bob or Dave shit though.

(No Offense if your name is Bob or Dave)

Looked up different names, regions, and meaning throughout the pregnancy. Eventually she had a better first name so we went with that and I picked the middle name.

C'mon fam this is a clean thread!

lol,

I was just being honest tho....

I would just name my child after me..

African names are great, but you better teach your child how to be self sufficient these cacs be weeding out names that sound to "ethnic" ....

does tchalla mean anything in creole?

Ya'll REALLY got me thinking of how IMPORTANT it is to make sure a Black child name

for better or worse can't be too ethnic

that is damn shame

but real as hell.

First of all CONGRATS!!!

Go with your heart. You already know your family gonna come up with their own nickname for the baby anyway lol

More importantly raise he or she with our values and they will be just fine.

Peace

unless you go straight euro or african, pretty much anything in between, besides made up is like neutral.....by the way, my name seems so fukkin white shit aint funny.....

I picked both first names. One is an African name, it took me longer to pick out her name. other named after and old jazz and blues singer didn't know it at time that we gave her the name , funny cause she plays music and is heavy in rights movements now.
