Oscars Bullsh*t: Academy Awards does NOT televise Samuel L. Jackson honorary Oscar

These awards shows lost a lot of their luster years ago. Between not giving Malcolm X a Best Picture nomination. I truly think the year they chose to skip over The Dark Knight for Best Picture, was the last straw.

People watch but the awards don't seem to have as much importance as they once did, especially with how many categories there are and how many films and actors are overlooked.

Sam Jackson should have been nominated for Best Actor (not supporting) for Pulp Fiction. How was he not nominated for A Time to Kill?

Hollyweird be on some BS.

You already know what it is.

He should have been nominated for Django too (and won). That was highway robbery nominating Cristoph Waltz over him. Nobody remembers his character, Doc Schultz from that movie. EVERYONE remembers Stephen.

Samuel L Jackson himself said they love honoring black people for doing despicable shit in movies. He mentioned Denzel Washington in Training Day, but I'm sure a part of him is glad that he did not win an Oscar for that role

That said, Samuel L Jackson is one of the greatest actors of this generation. Who is his peer? Who is greater at what they do than he? Very few if any in the history of film have played such a wide array and dynamic roles

This is an embarrassment. Like they didn't want to honor him in the first place oh. By the way check out the last days of Ptolemy grey if you have not seen it

The Oscar shouldn't mean shit to Samuel L. or any black person be they a film actor or not. It is a racist symbol of a racist organization, yet so many black stars choose to show every year just to be overlooked discounted or dismissed. What a statement it would make if no black performer showed up at the annual fuck you show. :hmm:

The Oscars don't selectively give out Oscars to folks playing heroic roles. That's a misconception. They get them for playing roles well, villainous or heroic or in between.

Out of the 20 Oscars won by Black folks, only 4 were for playing villainous characters.

That said, the role of Stephen, played by Sam Jackson, was a complex character. Sam was playing the role of a man playing a role. He was a coon for sure. Also, he was a shrewdly intelligent man who, by acting obsequious and pretending to be dim-witted and half-crippled, managed to rise to being the right hand negro of the most powerful man on the plantation, Calvin Candy (Leonardo DiCaprio). This effectively made him the second most powerful man after Calvin.

Actually Sam did feel a kind of a way about not getting even nominated.
Sam's own words on his being snubbed for Django:

“Well, the point of that award is that you were an actor in a film who made a dynamic impact on the story with a memorable character. And would anyone else playing the part have been as impactful? That should be the question — did you do your job? Yes. Did I make you hate me? Yes. Did I inhabit the character full enough to make you believe that, and make you uncomfortable enough to make you hate me? Yes. And you feel guilty because then you want to see me die. I did what I was supposed to do for that film, which should be the criteria for voting or not voting.”

I do plan to watch "The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey". Thanks for the reminder.

Oh, I cannot fucking WAIT.

The women getting on board this trans train like it's a stop when it NEEDS TO STOP.

The sexes/genders were separated for a reason- to make it fair.

The biggest Crackhead female deserved Woman of the Year before that Jenner motherfucker. Everyone wants to jump on their side like they are a victim when they just don't like the cars that God dealt them I want us to feel bad about it

No one is saying it's okay to attack them or kill them. I have said on plenty occasions:

I support trans rights
I support them living, dressing,.marrying, divorcing, adopting, going to school...all that

I'm a bit up in the air on the bathroom deal because I've been to the gym/recreation center and dudes (White dudes) just be walking around naked, at the sink brushing their teeth naked...and if they on that trans shit and doing that in the women's bathroom with my daughter or any little girl that's not cool

And I don't believe they should be able to participate in women's sports.

If you gotta take drugs to make you something then that's not what you are.

If you gotta take suppressors to keep you from being something then that's not who you are supposed to be

The only exception are the intersex people like Castor Semeya (sp) who ACTUALLY got a raw deal with life from God, but everyone else should play with the goddamned cards God dealt

Correctomundo

my thing is society trying to indoctrinate kids with the trans or gay shit. That is bullshit to the fullest. The only person allowed to indoctrinate a child is that child’s parent or guardian, period.

society has overstepped its boundaries when they are trying to tell ppl how to think and feel. That is slavery on a macro level. I don’t care if a person is a rascist because that is their free will to think that way, just like its a persons right not to be a rascist. Now based on how a person thinks will determine the life experiences they have, and it is the individuals choice if they want to continue receiving those experiences and thinking the way think or if they want to change.
