New Orleans threw a parade for Prince and it was incredible

It hasn’t even been a full week since the metahuman we know as Prince ascended to his sexy interdimensional throne, created during the Big Bang (if you know what I mean ;]). On Monday night, the residents of New Orleans gave the Purple One a truly magnificent sendoff with one helluva second line parade.

Second lines are an iconic New Orleans tradition, commemorating funerals and celebrations with a procession of musicians, dancers, and other merrymakers. Last night, thousands of Prince fans took to the streets of the city’s Treme neighborhood in a stream of purple, complete with frills, parasols, and Love Symbols. The second liners walked, danced, biked, and drank along to brass bands and Prince classics. Here are some of our favorite images from the festivities.
